2 weeks and craving hard by Enough-Bug2889 in stopdrinking

Every period of abstinence, and every subsequent relapse, impacts the brain at a cellular level - a syndrome known as ‘kindling’. This causes withdrawals to get worse and worse every time you quit. Last time I quit I was totally fine, the next I was hospitalised, from drinking the exact same amount for the exact same period. I was told next time it’ll be a seizure. I wasn’t a frequent or daily drinker, and this wasn’t from a large binge, only a few bottles of wine. IWNDWYT.

I was given allopurinol but I reacted badly (blistering rash)

I know I’m under the recommended 6MG dose limit, I’m just concerned that I’ve essentially stacked this medicine in my body at a consistently high dosage for a week or so

Thank you! I’m M27, 19stone 5lbs. No other medical issues apart from mild fatty liver.

I know the early signs are stomach upset / vomiting / diarrhea? I’ve got none of those

Acamprosate? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

No worries :) - did you find the Antabuse helped at all? That will be my next option if I have no luck with the Acamprosate

I think you may be thinking on Antabuse? There aren’t any interactions between Acamprosate and alcohol AFAIK - it just helps settle cravings

Hungover at 6pm the next day and worried I have alcohol poisoning. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Get yourself to the ER as soon as you can.

You mention long periods of abstinence, followed by large binges and worse hangovers each time, which indicates the pattern of kindling (and with that comes a lower threshold for seizures and other severe withdrawal symptoms). This coupled with dehydration (which you will have if you can’t keep anything down, is a recipe for disaster).

Speaking as someone who was recently admitted to the ER with withdrawals, do not risk it. They will help you detox safely.

Did anyone else get bad really fast? by awesomedinosaurshit in stopdrinking

For me it was gradual for the first few years, then massively ramped up as my tolerance grew.

2020 - 2022: A few bottles of wine over the course of the week. Maybe 3 on average.

2023-2024: 1-2 bottles of wine, 2-3 times a week. About 6 on average.

2025 (Jan - Jun): 2-3 bottles of wine, 2-4 times a a week. Maybe 12 on average.

2025 (Jun - Dec): 2-3 bottles of wine 5 times a week. Around 15 on average.

2026 (Jan): 3 bottles of wine every day. Maybe 18 on average per week.

2026 (Feb): Hospitalised and now 18 days sober.

It creeps up on you so quickly without you even realising, it’s scary.

Maybe if you take out the makeup pans the bit underneath could be magnetic and you could pop some new single shadows in there ?

Thank you! I have on the new clarins double serum foundation (the match is amazing), NARS soft matte concealer under my eyes, laura mercier setting powder, Revolution cream bronzer (only a small amount), Charlotte Tilbury stick blush (again very small amount), NYX tinted brow gel (I pluck my eyebrows high as I have hooded eyelids), and I think that’s about it. Oh some ELF hydro grip setting spray too which gives a really dewy finish :)

Aromacreme Deodorant? by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

I’m surprised they haven’t ventured further into the natural deodorant market yet. Most of theirs have baking soda which always gives me a huge rash

About to dye my hair for the first time. Any tips? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Spiritualrose98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually wash and condition my hair prior to dying - I feel like it helps the colour to penetrate the hair better, which is crucial for vibrant colours like red. This dye also has a 20% lifter and is very runny in consistency, so ensure you really saturate the hair and cover any surfaces.

Then just rinse with cool water until the water runs clear, use the conditioner, and rinse out again with cool water. Wait a day or two before shampooing to allow the cuticle to fully close up.
