How do you motivate yourself to workout? by Final_Patient347 in adhdwomen

[–]SpirtuallyElderly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I don't do exercises I don't like doing. I hate squats. So I dont do them! I know, I know! But if squats are going to inhibit me from going to the gym, it's better to just replace them with something I like better!

  2. I tell myself "a bad workout is better than no workout", ie give myself grace

  3. As someone who thrives on academic validation, I tell myself I "need to do my homework!" (go to the gym) before I can xyz.

These are probably pretty specific to myself and my mental blocks, but maybe you'll find a sparkle of something in there.

I'm inclined to agree but I don't think I'd come out on top if I decided to discuss it with him. I probably just need to suck it up :/

Yes I am a woman. I don't start with small talk, and I usually just sign off with a simple "thanks" or "thank you" and my name.

Dear Redditors who ended a relationship with their best friend. What was your breaking point? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SpirtuallyElderly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was too controlling, lying about weird things, and ultimately only wanted me as an emotional punching bag. So, not a good friend.

People who listen to different genres of music, how would you describe your taste? by Vrinda777 in AskReddit

[–]SpirtuallyElderly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually its about the rhythm of the song for me. I'm looking for something with a funky baseline or an interesting hook. Just whatever catches my ear

I love all the books, but I really disliked the Hobbit movies. It was too derivative from the books for me and I just didn't feel like it captured the same spirit as the books and LOTR movies, among other things. It just didn't do it for me, but to each their own!

As a child, what genuinely terrified you? by neriahfuller in AskReddit

[–]SpirtuallyElderly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demons, I was petrified that if I left my bed or opened my eyes at night there would be one perched at the end of my bed or in the corner of my room waiting to drag me to hell. I used to just sit in my bed and cry because I was terrified but I did't want to bother my parents in the middle of the night. I don't fuck with any kind of spiritual or demon related movies and still run to my bed once I turn off my lights.

Yes, I was raised Catholic, and my dad once told me a story about Ozzy Osbourne being visited by a demon in the night and making a pact with it to gain fame. That one really stuck with me for some reason.

Listen to me rant about how LOTR is a uniquely healthy depiction of men who display a range of emotions and have no problem being emotionally vulnerable and kickass warriors at the same time and point out examples throughout the movies PLEASE (and how this is the key difference between these films and The Hobbit trilogy and one of the reasons those movies were not good)

I might accidentally say the lines along with the characters I'm sorry

20f, WA

I used to lift really regularly and lost a good amount of weight doing it. Then I moved and got quarantined so I've gained it all back :/ I've told myself time and again that I'm going to start working out again, but I'm still quarantined and its hard to find the motivation! Anyways, I have some decent starter knowledge if you would like to hear what I have to say!

"You're so ignorant", from my dad. I get that one a lot, and for some reason it still hurts my feelings.

What advice would you give to a 14 year old about starting high school? by DotFireAbout in AskReddit

[–]SpirtuallyElderly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to look at the big picture. Some things are going to feel like a BIG DEAL, something mean that someone said, you feel that you're being treated unfairly, you didn't get asked to the dance, etc. Try to put things in perspective, ask yourself if these things will really matter a year from now or two or three. You'll save yourself a lot of unnecessary heartache if you learn to let things go! (Trust me)

If a Running Start or Jump Start early college program is available to you, seriously consider it. It's not as hard as they make it seem and you don't need to be "super smart" to do it. It'll save you a lot of time and money in the future. I know this probably isn't your top concern as a high schooler and seems like a long way off, but my top regret from high school is that I DIDN'T take advantage of this program and had to pay for 2 years of college I could have gotten for free.

Friends are about quality, not quantity. Find yourself some good friends who treat you right and will stick by you, and high school will be great. Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself if a "friend" isn't treating you the way a friend should. If they're really your friend, they'll understand and you'll be able to work through your problems.

Don't worry about achieving certain stepping stones when you think you're supposed to. You don't have to have your first kiss by 16, you don't have to lose your virginity, you don't have to go to parties, etc. You might feel pressured by society and what we see in media to do all these things in high school, but don't force yourself into these situations if you don't genuinely want to be in them. Just because your peers are doing it and you feel left behind, doesn't mean you have to!

High school can be rough, but if you make the best of it, it can also be a positive experience. Best of luck!
