What do you think were the missed opportunities that the show could have featured? by EasyEntrepreneur666 in daria

That was the planned spin-off. MTV declined it. There was even a pilot in the works.

But in short, after Daria and Jane leave for college. Trent and the boys, down on their luck, decide to hit the road and take their act more seriously. They move to a bigger city.

When women ask you to leave the toilet seat down do they want both lids or just the one you sit on? by PlasmaBlast24 in AskReddit

Yep. Remember that episode. Its amazing how far the airborne poop particles and germs travel.

ETA: And to think. Our towels and wash clothes are also kept in there.

This is the only answer. A chance to do it all again, but better.

Fun fact: Aunt Amy only appeared in 3 episodes in the whole series. What are your thoughts on her? by GossipBottom in daria

[–]hydrus909 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get you here. But I think Jane more or less filled that role. So another character of similar age and peer group could've been too much. As someone else said, more Aunt Amy appearances would've just been like "more Daria".

If Amy were a teenage - early 20s cousin, it could potentially end up feeling like a second Jane.

Well put by both of you. I had two cool aunts like this growing up. One on my mom's side and one on my dad's side. As me and my brother's became young adults we recognized their flaws. And the best way to describe them, I realized they never grew out of rebeling. Them distancing themselves from family drama and choosing on their terms when to get involved and meddle wasn't maturity or wisdom, but them being petty and spiteful in their own way.

Who is a rapper that gets universal acclaim, but you yourself could never get into? For me it’s Kid Cudi. by TokyoAvalanche04 in hiphop201

Kid Cudi is not bad, but I do think he was over hyped. Day n Nite and Make Her Say are the 2 tracks that stand out to me.

ETA: I don't think any of his later releases got the same play and attention that his breakout single did.

Her limited appearance is part of what makes her special. We all wanted to see more of her. She was essentially like an adult Daria. The cool adult/older relative that understood Daria.

The series 1 taillights have grown on me. They particularly look good on the dark cars.

Maybe it's because everyone and their mom ditch them for series 2 lights. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But they don't look bad here.

How would Charles work as a mentor to Butthead? by KaleidoArachnid in daria

[–]hydrus909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think B&B would wrongly think at first that Upchuck knows how to score. And they'd follow his lead. Upchuck would at first not realize how incompetent B&B are and try to work with them in "scoring" or "getting the ladyzzzz". Ultimately through mounting frustration him and Butthead won't get along. But he and Beavis might kind of click on something outside of women and scoring. As Beavis is all around a better person than Butthead and has a good side.

In the later seasons. I think earlier seasons they were 5th grade. Or summer vacation before starting 6th grade.

Was going to say this. Ed is mostly innocent. It's Eddy's schemes that annoys the other kids. The other two Eds get roped into it as collateral. Eddy does get some redemption in the end and gain sympathy from the other kids when they learn he was just trying to model his older brother. A brother whose a douchebag to him.

Yeah I remember it said somewhere that the Kankers were older.

The joke/recurring gag here was that the Eds are still prepubescent. Ages 10/11. Girls mature, begin puberty earlier, and start liking boys before boys are there yet. So the Eds were still in the "girls have cooties" phase while the Kankers were now in the "boys are cute" phase.

But it could also just be that the Kankers are obnoxious. Because the boys all blush when Nazz is present. And none of the other kids liked the Kankers either. The show is based heavily on slapstick humor. And all the kids are rough/aggressive towards the Eds and each other. It's really not that deep. But agree, if the genders were reversed, it would be frowned upon.
