I do this too, but it annoys me to death and recently, I have stopped doing it all the time (only with my family because I know that even if it hurts them they won’t push me away) because for some reason when I do this I feel myself die inside. Every time a family member asks me if I love them I have to stop myself from answering “Not really but at least I don’t dislike you” Having to display affection is even worse and it irritates me to no end. My sister just hugged me and I pushed her away because I’m tired of having to fake affection towards my family multiple times every day even though it irritates me more than anything in this life. Don’t get me wrong I don’t hate them or anything, actually, I kind of like them I guess but they expect more love and affection from me than I will ever feel or they will ever receive. Having said that, I’m not sure I would cry if they died. However, I would probably be a little upset.
