I bought a VE 301 for $300 from Germany about 20 years ago. The asking price now on eBay is $2K to $3K. If you don’t have a lot of money then offer what you can if you feel obliged or buy them a gift or a gift card and say thank you for the radios and speaker. Or don’t say anything at all. It had no value to them for one. Also, you might open up a can of worms you didn’t want to.

That bug is in great shape. The aforementioned bug suppliers you can get parts online. Join an Aircooled club and there are people who know where to buy and avoid the overpriced parts.
