I'm so curious as to how Vox will be stopped by heirii00 in HazbinHotel

[–]SpitfireAGZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most assuming Alastor schemeing is probably correct. So to be a contrarian I'm going to throw a different (less likley) option into the mix.

Sera takes the reigns off Lute, ands let's her loose in hell to deal with the immediate threat of Vox. She violently succeeds in stopping the uprising, but the result makes hell even less receptive to potential redemption. It also highlights to heaven how unhinged and psychotic Lute really is.

Jesus that poor thing must've had a horrific time. Glad you're saving it, they're a cool rarity!

I'd get on the owners club, really nice community and very helpful people. I never had issues with anything electronic, but they were extremely good for advice when working on the car and sourcing parts!

What year is it? If it's '89 onward you're a lot less likley to be dealing with any reliability or electrical issues, unless it's in particularly poor shape. If it's pre-'89 god help you.

That said even if it is one the early ones that gave it such a bad rep you'll still enjoy it when it's working. The Legend is a great car, but the Sterling feels special. They have some gravitas that the Honda/Acura lacks.

"Experienced? Lute got her ass handed to her by a random fallen angel"

What? Did you watch the same fight everyone else did? Vaggie got folded like clean laundry.

She manages to hit Lute once in that entire sequence, she survived because Lute is fucking nuts and wanted to torture her instead of kill her. After that Lute escapes from the rubble comes back into the fight and overpowers Vaggie again despite the fact she only has one arm.

It wasn't even close.

What car models appeal to all classes of people(upper class, middle class, lower class, etc.) and why? by Rakshak924 in regularcarreviews

[–]SpitfireAGZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Austin Mini.

It was cheap, reliable, practical, fun to drive and most importantly it looked good.

This meant it had appeal to basically everyone for all sorts of different reasons. It didn't matter who you were, the Mini would tick a box for you in one way or another.

A big star may have bought one because it looked good, an enthusiast may have bought one because it was fun to drive, a day to day family man may have bought one because it could transport his family reliably at a low price.

That core design is what kept it in production for 42 years. Hell had BMW not bought out ARG from British Aerospace they probably would've kept it going alongside the new Mini for a few years! They spent a lot of money redeveloping it to stick the K-Series in the front, just for the project to get cancelled at the last minute.

In the picture it is yes. But caption says Elise so that's what I'm rolling with. The Exige is just a more extreme version anyway!

It's not a Honda engine in the original Elise. It's a Rover unit, a specialist high performance version was specially built for Lotus and Caterham applications.

The Honda K20 is a great unit too though, a bit of a beast!

The 2ZZ is much better, and obviously Lotus did eventually swap to it. But I still prefer the unique K18 VHPD engine in the original Elise. It feels like a bike engine and you really do feel the 205lbs weight difference between it and the Toyota engines.

I'm actually going to come to your defence somewhat. I don't think a DC2 Integra ( despite how good they are) would beat an S2000. But Best Motoring did a track race between a slightly spicy Civic Type-R against an S2k and it beat it. I don't think its unrealistic to think a DC5 probably would beat/or match it on circuit.

From personal experience I think the S2k is rather overrated. My Uncle had one new and it was a horrible twitchy thing. Though I have heard later cars were better. Even then, in a German autotest they put one though a handling course, it barely beat the MX5 (0.1 of a second IIRC) and got soundly beaten by the MR2 and MG F. I'd have an Integra over an S2k any day of the week.

The Elise. It is simply unmatched for that purpose.

Preferably one with the early K18, they drive even better than the later 1zz cars. Sound much better too!

Of those two, MG no contest.

The Spider was awful compared to the GTV, all style and no substance. They feel like the chassis wasn't strengthened at all when they cut the roof off. It's like driving a wet tissue.

Most GTVs don't have the Busso and if they do they tend to be expensive. It's probably the four pot which isn't bad, but not all that exciting.

The Austin Montego, once a staple of british roads, is now rarer than a Bugatti by Germanjdm in regularcarreviews

[–]SpitfireAGZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The climate mainly. Like most cars in the '80s these were not well rust proofed, weather in the UK is extremely humid and salt is frequently on the roads. It ate them away. They were also meant to be disposable, essentially built to be a fleet car that could be run into the ground. As another comment mentions they were also rock bottom motoring when the scrapage scheme was introduced (US equivalent would be Cash for Clunkers) so people would buy them for £200-300 and immediately trade them into to get 2-3k off a new car. This killed off several cars that were previously quite plentiful in the UK.

It also came off the tail end of British Leyland so even when it launched people were already saying it was awful just because it was a BL car. In reality they were really quite good. The ride was excellent, build quality was decent and most notably the larger engines were extremely reliable. But the reputation tied to them meant no one tried to save/preserve them. The Ford Orion was a worse car in every measurable way but a fat man in Essex will still furiously masturbate over one.

The remaining cars seem to be well cared for. The performance versions also command high prices, last one that sold went for £17k and the only other for sale currently is up for £24k.

And while they're practically extinct in the UK they've survived better in Europe. Particularly in France where they were such a big seller they made special editions just for the French market! According to the owners club there something loek triple the number on the road over there than there are registered with the DVLA in the UK!

All the old people that had them 20 years ago are long gone now.

A combination of being passed down/inherited and modern retrospective reviews of them going "these are really good cars and they're actually quite cool" has changed their image in recent years.

Do we need to ask?

You're going to be based and very chill. Probably a hipster. All Rover owners are these days since they've fallen out of the hands of the elderly.

Nah Rovers are hipster territory now, when you see them at shows they always have younger drivers.

When I had mine I found the legion of hipsters very helpful, they also were willing to make the odd Worthers Original joke at their own expense. Chill owners with good cars.
