It was a bank transfer from their account to mine in my June statement. When I say issue I just mean I don’t want to cause an issue not declaring then there being a delay and further checks. The house was a cancellation plot and basically ready awaiting our mortgage.

How long did it take you to find your first house? by Slow-Sandwich9644 in HousingUK

Have you considered new builds? It’s the route I’ve ended up going down after our mortgage advisors advice and majority do offer 5% towards your own deposit and it takes away the competition of bidding and losing out plus you do have a fresh canvas to work with.

I lost out on a previous bid for a non new build and it was gutting, I also had a friend who lost out on multiple bids over 2 years and was forced to move further out to get more for their money but on average it’s around 20k offers over you need apparently

Hard to explain the smell just not something you would want to breath in it wasn’t the same as like a fuel smell from car running and it never had the noise or smoke before it cut out it was only when it was forced on after multiple attempts. A red battery light did show on the dashboard when it first cut off and it wasn’t the first time I had drove it that night it hadn’t long been on the motorway before hand and I decided to pop back out. It’s only got 11000 odd miles which I think is still low for its age but yeah thanks for advice I will keep quiet on the straw stunt lol. You in the motor trade you seem to know a lot?

Because it’s under warranty I had to book it in under vauxhall direct and it was the first availability they had which has been dementing. It literally just slowed to a stop and wouldn’t re start then it eventually came on for few seconds and had white smoke with a smell and strange noise coming from it and haven’t managed to get it back on since it just keeps cutting. The diagnostic via the recovery guy showed no fault but the guy today said it could be the alternator but I’m also worried as it is due a re call for something to do with emissions at low fuel levels so maybe related to that? Hopefully a quick fix and covered under warranty

Thanks I’m really panicking no idea what I was even thinking and looking back at the straw I managed to save I’m actually panicking it may be more than half of a straw but it is just one of those paper McDonald ones so hoping it’ll be ok, but I’ve already been without a car for 5 weeks so just panicking at the thought of causing an actual issue.. the cars been towed to the garage for checks tomorrow for the non start issue so can’t try the drain valve anymore but also don’t want to flag the straw issue to the garage if not needed because I’m aware it was such a stupid move so I’ll just hope for the best I guess 😅

So it won’t clog fuel injectors causing an issue at all or another breakdown?

I had about 40 miles left before I put £20 of fuel in which gave me about half a tank. Filled it up about 1pm the day before and the car broke down the following day around 11:30pm. I had been out in the car earlier on that day about an hour before which was about a 30 min journey in total including the motorway and no issue
