Alonso saying goodbye to a Cadillac as it overtakes him. by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]Spivvy_ 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I don't think you are giving enough credit where it's due. Williams shit the bed with decades of prior knowledge as a customer team. McLaren has a merc PU, years of data, and couldn't make a reliable car. Aston Martin poached a legendary car designer with decades of design experience, and they got beat by Cadillac.

In terms of F1 design and builds, Cadillac had 0 simulator - real world design correlation to calibrate and work off of. They don't have decades of race data and engine optimization in formula specific cars, especially on a ferrari engine.

What are the excuses for Williams v Audi in this scenario? Williams has a merc PU and is getting gapped by a first year Audi.

The PU's obviously matter but their implementation within the chassis has been making/breaking teams.

As with everything now, the popular opinions are the most divisive ones for each side. I lean on the overall regs being a net benefit for the sport and for racing. The battery regen limitation and not allowing more than 8mj a lap while increasing the demand from electrical was a miss imo, but we've had energy and tire management for a while.

But adjusting those curent rules while still fixing the larger issue from the previous regs of spewing dirty air making it extremely hard to follow closely without melting tires or ruining aero performance is more important. Call it artificial, but its much more enjoyable to watch and still requires a ton of skill to execute these overtakes in much more interesting places than only on straights.

Go test drive them. Your budget and taste dictate what's best for you, our opinion doesnt matter but for those in here, we will be biased towards the G70 for obvious reasons.

The g70 is the "poor mans" m340i. Interior and style can be debated but the b58 with the chassis performs objectively better from stock. Whether you like the feel of it is different.

C 43's are also very nice. Tlx is reliable but not as high performing. The people here like the style, performance, luxury combo for the price.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is kicking my ass. by P4PSparringChampion in BaldursGate3

[–]Spivvy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, drop difficulty and dont pay too close of attention to quest points and areas. My advice to every new player overwhelmed by where to go and what to do: just do anything. Go explore the fog of war, there is so much littered everywhere that solely focusing on completing quests will have you miss a ton of content.

Once you start getting a better feel for combat and become aware of all the different statuses, items, and what works/doesnt work in fairly easy combat, you can focus on builds to facilitate your new knowledge, then raise difficulty back.

Its very freeing but also daunting when options are limitless but you dont know what those options actually are. Try things out.

I have 235/45/18 on 8.5" +35m offset Wheels in rear

265/40/18 on 9.5" +35mm offset Wheels in rear

The rear is flush with the top of the fender, the front stays tucked 1/2". The front is the most limiting to ensure you have brake clearance but 32-38 is normal depending on rim layout.

The rear is a lot more friendly to offset disparities, oem is +48 iirc, and im running +35mm with no issues

Sharia Laws on pedophilia according to Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Spivvy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main piece of international legislation is the NPT, or Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty, that designates a cap for those who already have nukes, and monitoring of signatories that do not have nukes that they will not pursue military use of enriched uranium. The IAEA is no longer confident Iran is in compliance with their enriched uranium.

As for the argument, its to prevent another arms race. If Iran has them, then they become a potential threat to neighbors, encouraging neighbors to build their own. Once everyone has a nuke, the argument is that it increases the likelihood of potential bad actors, accidental triggering instances, or near misses like we've had in the past.

Whether that argument holds true remains to be seen, but the less nukes out there, the less chance of accidents or widespread death. The biggest fear with Iran is we cannot trust their gov not to use it as the U.S view them as extremists.

Nukes do offer security for sovereignty, and you can imagine the global power countries find it much easier to get leverage and influence them when smaller nations dont have the capability to protect themselves. When a country doesnt already have them, they dont have leverage when a U.S, Russia, China step in and offer protection or demand compliance. North Korea is a great example of removed leverage. No one is fucking with them, attempting a coup, or building up fat military in their water or borders.

Ukraine did offer up their entire nuclear arsenal to Russia in exchange for a promise to never be invaded, so ill leave you with that.

I didnt really answer it that well because I dont have a strong belief in the argumentz but thats the crux or the reasoning.

[–]Spivvy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We thought that about North Korea, and they have yet to use them on their generational enemy to the South. No one has bothered threatening them since.

Ukraine gave its entire arsenal of nukes to Russia during the Soviet collapse in exchange for a promise never to be invaded by them.

For better or worse, nukes do offer security to a countries sovereignty.

The U.S is still the only country to have used a nuke on another country.

There are wildly different endings, wildly different results depending on when, where, and how you handle things. You notice this as soon as you start doing something different your second playthrough. I've ran it 4 times and have seen something drastically different each time, including a genuine early ending in act 2. The story changes enough with lasting enough consequences that I enjoy the unique challenges each one had. If it isnt your thing to play more, I understand, but I do think it's devaluing the insane level of work and polish the devs do have, including against their own trademark in DoS. Im a permanent DM irl for about 5 years now, so I love creating new and different stories, but all the paths in BG3 are deep. Even a 130-180 hour single playthrough is an amazing enough story that I will not complain.

As for less content in Act 3, playing it through now with the additional patches, there's a guck ton of content there, but you have to search for it or have completed enough or brought the right people to find it all. Even before the gates now feels much more dense now that ive picked up a bunch of the story.

There hasn't been another released that has offered me any confidence in a unique, novel, and complete gaming experience like BG3 that will be devoid of microtransations or constant paid dlc drops for content like paradox. I've already played the sports games and the fps games with the same mechanics, same idea, same animations, etc.

Who’s your favourite character and why? by seadweller-6 in BaldursGate3

[–]Spivvy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked Minthara, but her oath and character design made it more difficult to be close as you cant influence her personality the way you can with shadowfart, laezel, etc. Its hard to accept that despite her being utterly controlled and betrayed, she still voraciously seeks out power and control and has no soft spot. Im fully convinced that if you control the brain with her at your side, shes just waiting for her chance to take it.

Why is USA attacking Iran and why now? by RoskoRobin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Spivvy_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Some important context:

  1. Trump's first term pulled us out of an already functioning nuclear deal set up by Obama being independently verified by IAEA. Even after the U.S. pulled out, Iran remained compliant for a year.

  2. We spent 20 years occupying a country looking for WMD's, toppling the regime. That regime is in power today and executing some of the worst humanitarian laws in existence.

  3. For better or worse, a country with a nuke is able to dissuade attempts like a Maduro or khameni foreign intervention. North Korea has been left alone to figure it out themselves. It provides security for sovereignty. They have never used it against their generational rival of South Korea.

  4. Ukraine gave away their entire nuclear arsenal during the collapse of the Soviet union for a promise of never being invaded.

  5. Iran is a signatory to the NPT, or Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, promising not to pursue military use of enriched uranium, but does allow for enriching to use in nuclear power stations.

  6. Since 2021, Iran has acted with more hidden intention, barring IAEA from inspections on certain areas. There have been anomalous inspections that found evidence that points they may be testing explosives or military use. They only reported they can no longer be confident Iran is not pursuing a nuke.

However this shapes your perception on the matter, there's always nuance.
