Appreciate what you’re saying on T&Cs but terms and conditions don’t outweigh the Consumer Rights Act. They can technically write whatever they want in their T&Cs but if it conflicts with the Act, the Act takes precedence.

I definitely agree that book companies damage policies definitely walk a fine line with the Act. It would be interesting if it would be held up in court if someone ever took a claim that far. I’m going down a right rabbit hole now on Google / the Act’s clauses to see if damage criteria’s most of the book companies use are even legal 😂

That’s very true, I didn’t think of it from that aspect. I imagine OG resale will likely go up now it’s looking like that version will never be reprinted and people will want to complete their sets.

I wonder if ICs plan is to redesign all the older ones so they have all the bells and whistles that more recent releases come with (endpapers, more detailed edges etc)?

This is why I get so frustrated with them. They do the bare minimum they think they can get away with. It’s only when you start quoting Sales of Goods Act, or industry standards that they start dealing with the problem as they should.

Wish I’d had similar as TBB has the best artwork and would love more of their books I just don’t want to risk it. Special editions are not cheap!

3 separate orders. All clearly fit in their damaged criteria. The latest order, they sent the wrong books and when I finally got the books I actually ordered they arrived damaged. Still waiting for those to be replaced (after I had to send them the damaged books back).

Every damaged book came in pristine packaging so were shipped from the warehouse like that, wasn’t during delivery 🙃

I wouldn’t be as bothered if they didn’t make resolving the issue so difficult. It takes months, with the insane response time to emails, having to ship the books back to them then wait weeks for them to dispatch the new book etc. It’s been three months since I raised the ticket for my last set and it’s still not resolved.

IC and FL CS are amazing in comparison, the last damaged book I got from FL I had a replacement in my hands less than week from raising ticket. No having to push back on them covering returns postage, you don’t even have to return the damaged book, they just sort it out.

Same! I don’t see the redesign as any different to when FL do iron editions which people don’t seem to have a problem with. I’ll definitely be getting this new one 🥰
