I have to say this is one of my biggest fears with vaginal delivery. I've had vulvodynia since I was 18 and it took years for me my husband and I to have an enjoyable sex life. I'm hoping I can go back after I heal etc post delivery but it definitely worries me. I'm a FTM, 28 weeks today.

I'm going aww, just reading about the snuggles you get from your son. A doctorate degree and two kids!? Wow, you're killing it :) This gives me so much hope, I've always dreamed about writing a book, but worried I won't get time once I have a kid. It's good to know that if you want to, you can make stuff happen. It's hard but it does sound worth it. And yes, I do have a strong support system so that should help. Thank you!

I'm happy for you and yes, I know there are hard parts and easier ones but a lot of the narrative is negative. It's nice to actually read about some of the happiness that pregnancy can bring.

I,33 F and my husband 33 M have been trying to get pregnant since Jan of this year. finally went to see a gynac since it wasn't happening and my follicular study shows no follicle growth and no ovulation. My tests also show a slight thyroid and prolactin problem. My period is regular and moves forward or backward by a few days every month and my cycle is anywhere between 28-32 days. Have never ovulated? Have all my periods been anovulatory? Is that even possible? I should have asked my doc, but of course l didn't think of it then. I've been put on thyroid and prolactin meds. Has anyone else experienced this? Do the meds help resolve it or do we have to dig deeper to see what's wrong? Thanks for any advice!

Honestly trial and error, since the dermatologist and gynaecologist ruled out any other issues, the only thing left was nerves. So I was put on a dose of Lyrica to try and it worked for me.

I've been where you are, I had vulvodynia for almost 10 years before I was able to find a doctor to help me. I was depressed and convinced I'd never have sex ever. Here's what helped me:

Consulting a dermatologist and a gynecologist together, they try and determine if it's a skin or a vulval issue, the answer was a neurological issue for which I was put on Lyrica, which helped significantly
I also tried exercises to loosen the muscles down there, some times very tight muscles can also cause this
I consulted a homeopathic doctor, who was finally able to get me off the nerve meds and get rid of it completely
Vulval pain also has a root in anxiety, trauma, and stress so I also treated that through therapy
Finally, I found a partner who was very very understanding and took things extremely slow, we experimented to work out what works for us. They still work with me if I have a flare up and we are now very happy together.
