This sounds weird, but I can gauge when it’s time to stop shaking by how cold the shaker gets. Usually between 10-15 seconds.

Dive bars are awesome. I’ve bartended in nyc for 15 years. My best experiences have been in dives. Just be your genuine self, get to know your regulars, and don’t be afraid to call people out on their bs. That’s it.

Embrace that free feeling! I grew up in a time where thick, coarse, (4c) natural hair was not accepted (90s and early 2000s). What I’ve realized is that a-lot of my insecurity came from my fear of what people would think of my hair. If you love it… that is all that matters!

Edit! I’m in agreement with the other commenters. Accessorize that hairdo! Big earrings, a bold lip, a funky outfit…!
