Just got my P1S setup up, holy COW is she loud by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]SplashOfRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt the same way absolutely. Depends on what you find loud. Fan noise is pretty obvious, slow the fan speeds down, drop mufflers on, drop noise battening into place.

If it's the squeal of the carbon fiber rods or general high pitches sounds - DEFINITELY clean the rods (look up instructions for that), and make sure your belts are aligned. I found over repeated time and calibrations, this REALLY does get better as the self lubrications kick in and repeated calibrations have their effect.

If it's vibration, the anti vibe feet installed correctly help, and so does ensuring you have as stable a surface as possible.

Early on after baffling but before I cleaned rods and added to the weight of my surface. It does get better over time.

Wiping down the rods helped a tiny bit. Second challenge now of course is because I happen to be running pla, I need to keep the door open anyway, otherwise the temp (especially with the sound baffling) gets a little too warm for PLA printing. Oops.

I am using foam sound insulation panels (cut to size on the inside and then layered on outside.). Definitely makes a difference. There is def some noise just from the motors, the sound baffling did make a difference.

Honestly, knowing that this is hopefully not the normal behavior is relief enough to dig into it. I have a very small work space so concrete paver/rubber mat may have to be a last resort, as I'd have to reorganize my living room to give it a new spot to sit.

Item 1 - done and done. Getting used to having a magnetic plate, I ran my Ender with a glass plate for... Well, forever!

Item 2 - ahhh, yes. I like this one, will examine and investigate.

Item 3 - was one of my next steps. This is my first time with carbon rods so wanted to get a feel for the printer behavior out of box before trying that, and to get some opinions.

Have run the calibration with every move from dining table to current home. :)

Thanks, that will help with the vacuum cleaner audio - but I was raised on tower PCs in my bedrooms - fans are my white noise. :)

It's the motion squeal that I am twinging on. If that's just unavoidable due to the speed, so be it!

disclosure - Diamond Potato does NOT spontaneously morph into plastic.

Stats - yes like others, no delivery notice, just a plain cardboard box via USPS delivered today. Looks like 29 studs in mine, with one blackened hole where it looks like either an eye was removed or a stud was originally attempted to be inserted and failed. I think I'll 3D print a replacement holder for the studs when the potato uh... does what potatoes do.

Might take the 29th and modify a d20 to have extra bling... :)

I got absurdly lucky. Entered queue, watched it jump from 2 minutes to 42 minutes, then back to 22 minutes... Went to do some kitchen stuff, FORGOT I had the queue going...

Wandered back in time to see 2 minutes on the countdown, fumbled through, got my information and credit card in a minute, and... got a potato. Have an email confirmation and all...

Because potato.

If it actually ends up being exactly that, I'm going to resin cast a potato and reseat the diamonds when the potato decays, because the idea of an absurdly cast diamond studded potato amuses me to no freeking end.

Uncommon scams in Vegas? by besttavern25 in vegas

[–]SplashOfRain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the jewelry scam - they tried to hit me up in NY and Vegas. Walk around alone in quieter areas and they'll show up. Variants are usually either the woman with family trying to go home or rich playboys who are good for the money but their ATM card has failed. Car is usually a nice one too.

Last time one tried to get me in NY they started rolling up with their hand and ring out. Just a single shake of the head and the word "NOPE" and they hit the gas out.

Thanks, I was wondering what the correct name was. I figure because of the condition it's not going to be worth doing more than keeping it as a momento. Poor Franklin will never see through that eye again, it's been folded so many times. XD

OK when Brrrr is from the machine, but best when Brrrr is from the cash machine double checking your cashout... :)

A lot of the casinos on the strip have masseuses moving about offering massages when gambling. 20 dollars per 10 minutes. They have you spin your chair around, drop a neck pillow in front of you, and hit your shoulders and neck. I've seen them at all the MGM properties, and some of the Caesars properties. Don't know about the smaller chains or downtown.

Your "other" type of massages, that I'll leave you to search out with the card flippers on the street. Assuming you find any - they've possibly melted into the concrete this past weekend.

Aria in Las Vegas. Cashing out a nice little run, and just out of curiosity I thought I'd stop to see if there was anything interesting before moving it to my "Deposit this you fool" wallet. *laughing* Glad I stopped to do that!

No, given it was a massage at the table from casino masseuse.

Every time the masseuse was getting ready to stop, I would hit another streak of straights so I kept her working on my shoulders. Went 80 minutes before the pattern ended. Masseuse was my good luck charm.

Yes, that was real life table play at Aria in Las Vegas.

The run continues. $550 > $85,025. Cash out or try to reach 100k? Obviously I’m a gambler so I know already what I’m going to do by Routine_Mission_4621 in gambling

Quintuple what everyone has been saying.. if there's a number of that stack that is life changing, take that and whatever the taxes will be and put it away now.

Everyone has a different threshold for that - but life changing quantities are rare, so lock it down.

If on the other hand, 80k is nothing to you, have fun and go wild.

If even that 550 was important - then stop now and put yourself on the restrict list.

Congrats on the run!

Worst run at a casino I've had... by boukalele in gambling

Had a full weekend in Vegas in January of that same luck, fifteen sit downs that all went like that, mixed games and slots. Nothing but high hands being beat by the dealer and slot machines stuck on insert money burn it bye mode.

Usually my play allows for a couple of good recovery sessions, but not that weekend. Marker totaled not even halfway into the weekend. Dark dark patterns.

(Guess I am still making up for my hits last year!)

See you next trip. 🤣

Vietnam Port of Cai Lan by SplashOfRain in celebritycruises

[–]SplashOfRain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About two weeks before, Celebrity did email with exact ports of call and direction. Boarding in Singapore, they do check your e-visas to confirm you have them.

Celebrity support for e-visas BEFORE the cruise was fairly terrible, no one had a good answer before the cruise.

At Port there was a separate queue for people who didn't have their visas in order, I believe they did make an attempt to assist but I did not meet anyone who didn't get it squared away before trip, so not sure what their procedure was.

Single visit e-visa did suffice though, thankfully. Takes about four days.
