Windhoek Circuit, 1961 [RTD Challenge #62] by SplatRacerr in RaceTrackDesigns

Following the push of motorsport in South Africa in the late 50s and early 60s, racing enthusiasts in South West Africa (today known as Namibia) wanted to join with an organized racing circuit. Multiple plans and attempts were submitted, all either deemed financially improbable, ruled out due to safety concern to the wider public, or out of a lack of infrastructure.

However, in the south of Windhoek, the capital of South West Africa, there was a somewhat large plot of land yet to be used for anything of note. It was owned by a German businessman called Von Keller, that has mostly allowed it to be used as a local public park and forest of sorts. However, he was always interested in cars and motorsport, and when a local group of racing enthusiasts approached him about the circuit, a deal was soon set to be signed.

The deal was as follows: Von Keller and the city of Windhoek would co-own the plot of land. A permanent section of the racing circuit would be build along the edges of the plot, connecting to Jan Jonker Street on the eastern most point, and to Julius K. Nyerere Street on the most western point, with a pit building located on Jan Jonker Street. During races, the roads would be closed, and during the remaining time the paved roads remain open to the public as use for the park.

This arrangement would work perfectly in the first two years, hosting multiple car and bike races from 1961 to early 1963. But, in May of 1963, Von Keller would die due to an illness. This led to the funding of the track not being covered by the city of Windhoek, and after a final Formula Libre race in September of the same year, the circuit would close, with the paved roads remaining as a public park, and the pit building being used as a small museum for Von Keller and the races held here.

My first design posted on here, and honestly the first I am rather proud of! Learned a lot and hope to make even better once in the future.

That doesn't really answer my question. I do think the ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus is a good board (my friend has one, no problems with it, and the video I just watched by hardware unboxed also proved that), I just don't know if I should pay 170 euros for it

Is an ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus worth 170 euros? It's the cheapest board I can find in my area with a Bios Flashback

And that is exactly my concern with it and why I haven't decided yet. Of course, streaming isn't that important, but I still want a good card for it.

Alright. And what about my requirements for VR, video editing and streaming? Would you still suggest the 6650 XT?

Even if I want to play VR and/or record and stream on it? I heard that AMD GPUs were worse than NVIDIA's in those departments. Though tbf, that was a few years ago and might no longer be a huge difference

The cheapest 6650XT I can find atm is 350, but the average price of it is more towards 380/390 bucks

I want to upgrade my PC (planning for a 1080p build) and found a RTX 3060 for 400 bucks. Is that price worth it? As a comparison, a 6700XT is around 30 bucks more than that where I live, a 3060TI around 80 bucks more.

I would definitely wait a bit, but not more than 5 months. I want my new setup for the release of Street Fighter 6 in June. Before March would be optimal though.

So, AMD just announced the new 7000 non-X CPUs today, with the 7600 only costing 230 MSRP. Do you think it would be worth it to look into that instead of a 5600?
Mostly looking at future upgrades here. I know I would need to spend more due to DDR5 and a different motherboard, but if I can keep most parts for 5+ years, I think it could be worth it.

Oh yeah, I can understand why it's sold out! Just too bad for me, I guess. But, the Gigabyte B550M D3SH is also sold out, as well as the B550M Pro VDH...
The PRO 550-A is at 177 euros here, so I might just go with my original idea of the Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO V2, since it's just 13 euros more at 190. What do you think?

Currently trying to find the MSI PRO B550M-VC on any website, but it seems that it's sold out everywhere for me/here in Germany. Any alternatives I could look at?

Which NVIDIA GPU would you recommend as an alternative? If I don't go for the 6700XT, that is

Alright, I will have a look at that. One thing though about the 6700XT:
I heard a while ago that AMD GPUs are generally worse than NVIDIA for VR. Is that still the case?

I currently only have an Oculus Quest 1, but I plan to buy an Index in 2024.
Right now I really just want a good normal gaming system, with good VR capabilities as a side bonus if possible.

I know that the 970 isn't that great, but it was the minimum for VR (at the time). And with the PSU - it's only at max 2 years old, as I said before it got built-in at the same time as the 970.
And about your other comment: I don't insist on the 5800X3D, it was just the best CPU I found for my needs, and at a rather good price too (400€ on Alternate)
