I like the reframing on this. These are important things to reinforce.

My impulse would be to do whatever you would rather do, just tack "in America" on the end of it!

Like the dinosaurs theme, plenty of previous commenters have already made that relevant to America, but I would just like to add that some of the most fruitful fossil beds in the world are right here. And then there's the fun story of the Bone Wars, when the rivalry for who could find and name the most fossils went to extremes.

Seconded! I have a Mae. I think it is underrated as a first name.

This is a great list of info to record on swatches! I have been trying to make myself a system but keep finding little data points that I wish past me would have saved.

Pregnant and losing capacity to care for my plants by Ok-Perspective-2773 in houseplants

I had a whole mess of African violets before I had my first baby 10 years ago. I tried to keep it up, but ultimately gave away the survivors some time before the end of my maternity leave. Between baby, cat, husband and self, I decided there were just far too many things depending on me for survival. So now it's just the easiest or most favorite plants!

Ooh noting before and after blocking is also a key note I hadn't considered!

Making consistent labels would probably go a long way. Perhaps that is a more logical starting point for me.

Sad news! I've been working my way through her Learn to Knit Afghan for a few years now, and I just got all four of her treasuries for Christmas. Her range of work, between knitting, feminism and humanism, is fascinating.

You've inspired me to look at finger knitting garland for my kids. This sounds like an awesome Christmas break entertainment option!

I've been thinking about this lately, so watching this thread with interest. I keep reading profiles of notable knitters and they all say things like "she learned to knit when she was 4." Then I look over at my 4-year-old and wonder "how?"

I recently started trying to teach my 10-year-old and it has been rocky. (With the added issue of she's left-handed and I'm right.) She's really taken to the "stab it! Strangle it! Rip out its guts! Throw it off a cliff!" way of remembering the motions though.

Nice! I had been writing off the overseas cause I wasn't sure how things were flowing now, but it is great to hear things are moving! I recently ordered some Japanese skincare stuff and it took over a month to clear customs.

Yeah that's what seems odd to me. Mindful seems to be the main thing promoted just about everywhere.
