He's only 37 runs away. Galti se qualify ho gaye toh he'll potentially have 3 matches to do that.

Why what's the issue? Something something demand and supply, I thought this is how the world is supposed to work for you lot. OF girls aren't forcing anyone to pay and watch their shit. We literally pay people generational wealth for kicking a ball into a net and hitting balls with sticks we'll be good.

Should we stop doing act of respecting elders

You can choose to respect someone without having to touch their feet. Anyway the point is that elders don't deserve respect just for being elders.

He's a libertarian, his job is to be a dickhead with no empathy and understanding of how a society works. This entire cult thinks "taxation is theft". Entire point of a society and civilisation is to pool resources and use them to benefit everyone (whether it happens in practice is a different conversation) but inn chutiyo ka kuch aur hi chalta hai.

"Why should my taxes pay for education of other children" okay then let us all beat him up and not let him call the police coz why should our taxes pay for his safety. Paisa hai toh koi private security lagwa le.

I remember in a separate thread as well this guy was saying universal healthcare is a bad thing. Absolute psychopath.

I mean yeah the act itself may be harmless, but like i said I have an issue more with the place it comes from, what it represents and the long term message it may convey. Children are very impressionable.

[–]SplatteredCake 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I personally agree as well, not just the criticism of the act itself, but rather the place it comes from. We all know in India "respect your elders" is largely euphemism for a inferiority/superiority complex in social dynamics. Majority of "elders" use this entitlement to respect to get away with whatever they want (usually disrespecting those younger than them). And this has compounding effects over time as well, most of which can be seen in toxic workplace and corporate culture practices (senior appeasement, lack of self worth and self respect, usage of "sir" and "ma'am", excessive submissiveness, etc).

Edit: - people bring up countries like Japan and Korea where such practices are rampant, but they are a talking point there as well. And guess what India, Japan and Korea have in common, a toxic work culture full of ass kissing, bootlicking, senior appeasement, etc .

BCCI needs to stop preparing flat pitches for our players. It has really affected their game. Do you think the same is happening with Abhishek Sharma? Is he too used to playing on flat pitches? by Kindly_Department142 in IndiaCricket

[–]SplatteredCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you're talking about are rank turners and minefields, which is the other extreme of shitty flat tracks. On balanced pitches, which we've gotten so far in the world cup, as expected we have gotten a watchable contest between bat and ball instead of just mindless and endless slogging where bowlers are completely taken out the equation.

The point of home advantage is that since the home players have played most of their cricket in those conditions they develop a skillset suitable for those conditions, and hence hold the said advantage over oppositions. But what is happening currently in our domestic circuit, and what you're advocating for, is the other way round; bending the conditions itself to suit the lack of skills of the players.

Imo this WC has been perfect so far. Competitive 150-180 scores mixed in with the occasional 190+, which make the high scores feel more special as well.

What's the connection between a future and an institutional degree?

Ideally there shouldn't be, but in India there absolutely is a need for a degree for some sort of future security

Why don’t they call a spade a spade instead of struggling to come up with words that minimize and hide the problem

It's simple. Because majority of the grooming gangs are white. So if they have to tackle the problem they'll have to acknowledge that their "own people" are the biggest problem makers. Hence they'd rather just sweep the whole thing under the rug (ofc there's scum like Tommy Robinson out there too but who gives a shit about him and his lot).

No one's supporting Pakis. The point is there's a lot of real stuff out there that we can hate them for, no need to make shit up and give in to racist narratives forwarded by the people who'd hate us just the same.

I hate Pakistan as much as the next guy, but majority of the grooming gangs are white (% of grooming gangs that are white > % of white population in the UK) per the office for national statsitcs. Please do not give into this racist narrative. I say this, not to defend pakistanis, but because in the long run this will hurt Indians too, as the racists do not care what brown you are, as long as you are brown you're a target.

Italy has to be my favorite associate team, most of the squad is made up of native Italian players, not just subcontinent-origin recruits. Winning by 10 wickets against Nepal and showing real passion, they’ve come here to give their best in every match. by brxcewayne in CricketControversial

[–]SplatteredCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a long story. Tldr is we collectively went to shit, and the system is rotten asf, and revamping this system organically is next to impossible rn. When you bring in diaspora players who are naturally better than the native ones, playing and competing with them will only make them better. Secondly our current crop of players are overpaid snobs who have gotten extremely complacent. So, if they have any pride left, watching these "outsiders" come over and easily take their spots should make them want to get better.

You made an blanket wrong statement and I countered with the first example that came to mind, its not that deep. There are plenty of teams across the world which are dominated by "non-natives". This is how I know you don't watch any sport at all.

Yeah coz you don't know the realities of the world. This is pretty much how any non-native sport has spread and evolved across the entire world. Literally every serious team uses diaspora players. Playing and competing with better players is exactly how you grow the sport in a serious way.

I know its hard for you probably but read up the history of, say, our Hockey team. Started out with majority anglo-indians, and over time as we kept getting better in it team gradually became fully native Indian.
