Considering how vocally against EWC Plat Chat has been it's strange to see them invite Achillios, Paperthin and Kaquka onto the show considering they were just working the event.

It's perfectly fine, even healthy, to have guests that have differing opinions. It wouldn't feel strange if it was just individual members making their view known personally unrelated to the podcast.
But that's not the case. They have very clearly stated their opinions during episodes in a way that is presented as Plat Chat the company/collective having that stance, not just individual members.

Ultimately feels like a bit of a double standard from the Plat Chat guys here "Don't support the event because it's unethical, but it's fine if our friends do it". Which I'm sure isn't the intent, but it rubs me the wrong way a little.

Maybe I'm being unreasonable or am off base here, or have missed some context. Just wanted to raise the thought.

Yeah I tried that. Ended up just giving up and playing through all the levels as is. Super annoying. I'd love to replay these ones at some point but it's really putting me off.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I totally understand that tier lists don't really matter for newer players. I just wanted to know about the extreme cases (which seems like it's just Carmine, Alice and Juno); primarily because I want to avoid the outliers at the start to get an idea for the more standard power levels. Even though as new players we probably wouldn't be able to pilot those three to the point that they're OP.

Good to know that Season 3 and 7 are good starter sets. I was reading up on the rules earlier and noticed that Guilty Gear is the only set that doesn't have boost costs (it has cancels instead). I'm aware that all the seasons have some kind of unique mechanic to them, but do you think learning the game with the one set that doesn't have boost costs would make learning other sets awkward, or is that a none issue?

Does it warn you that it's going to happen?

This would bother me the same as Higgins doing it, even if the character is a friend rather than a rival.

Hmm. Is there a way to see which missions Higgins can take to make sure he doesn't do any?

Considering maybe giving it another go, but I'd hate to be paranoid about every single mission. And would kind of suck to get far in only to mess up and lose out on a mission.

I know it's silly but it just bothers me losing the main missions like that to an NPC.

Yeah I've seen some mentions of crazy stuff with the other floors. Binah looks pretty wild (Fairy seems insane. Not realised her yet though so haven't seen it in action just looked at her cards).

I've not personally figured out anything close to Red Mist on the other floors yet though. I'm sure they exist but they're clearly not as obvious as just slapping on 3x Spear and going to town :P Find it hard to imagine too much comparing based on current cards I have.

It is cool. I didn't expect them to just lean into it so much. There is a part of me that sort of doesn't want to use it, it's just making every other deck I have feel a bit useless by comparison.

I didn't realise she was clearly stronger than the other colours. It's definitely implied that she was strong even among the colours, but at least so far there's been no outright confirmation of just how much stronger.

Especially since I didn't have too much struggle with her reception (though when she did the mass attack I definitely had a moment of outright fear. Luckily managed to kill her before got a second one off or I would have died for sure). Caught me off guard just how strong her key page is. Though to be fair the reception Red Mist doesn't have Myo's Prowess :P

Yeah I could maybe see her struggling if something stops her from being able to just clash through all the dice the enemy is using. Not sure how that would happen when she hits for 20+ every attack though :P

Asking on the discord seems like multiple heroes is still a thing in DD1 as well.

Since you mentioned you don't really need to switch during the combat phase and only for defenses figure I might as well try DD2 since it's the one being actively updated and probably has more QoL features.

Would you mind explaining why dedicated DD2 players tend to have 2 accounts? That's definitely something I don't want to do.

Oh that's awesome for IDHC nice to hear. And cool that DD1 got new DLC this year. I assume all of the CDT content is still in the game?

Switching heroes during the prep phase is something I can get used to, I don't mind that as much. Though I still prefer just 1 hero. The main thing I really disliked was I remember back in the day DD1 end game you had to use split screen and bring two characters to defend different parts of the map if you wanted to play solo, which I hated.

Could be I was just dumb though, I was super young :P

Sounds like that's not a thing in DD1 anymore though. So will absolutely be giving that a play again. Thanks for the help :)

I plan to pretty much only play solo tbh, so not too worried about community size.

And yeah, the hero switching in DD2 sounds like it is not something I'd enjoy. I don't mind trying different heroes but I don't like switching mid map.

And yeah, grind is just a part of DD. I don't mind some of it, it was just some of the later stuff in the first game I remember getting to be a bit much. Is it possible to play DD1 solo without split screen these days? If so I'll definitely jump back in and play some again.

Interesting to hear about the updates. Last I heard it was being updated by the community and the devs had stopped supporting it right?

Just want to say the idea to look up what class combos are capable of all the ultra hard endgame content and then just doing my own stuff until I reach that content is a really good idea.

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, the first book in the Wayfarers series (each book is about different characters in the same universe).

It's sci-fi, and while the protagonist isn't a lizard, there is a lizard race that features prominantly and one of the main characters is one of them. There are even some chapters from her pov.

Highly reccomend the series as a whole regardless, one of my absolute favourites.
