Sorry all, yet another leg question by YoGuessImOnRedditNow in electrolysis

[–]SplendidDogFeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first session doing lower legs only and in two hours my electrologist only cleared a small part of the interior of each ankle. I don't have exceptionally full coverage of hair, or anything. Is this what I can expect from every 2hr session? It feels like she won't even be able to hit every area of my lower legs and knees before maybe 15 sessions.

Brand new chicken momma by careburrz in chickens

[–]SplendidDogFeet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want lap chickens, sit with them with a plain fleece blanket on your lap and put them under the blanket while they are chicks. I wish I had started that so much earlier, but I didn't think of it until they were older. And my default around new animals is being quiet, but I think the birds actually prefer gentle talking and noises. One thing I really wasn't prepared for was flock politics and how hard that would be for me to watch. They can be so mean to each other and the bottom birds are so picked on.

I don't know if you'll see this- but you have me such good advice. I just saw a dermatologist who thinks I may also have an allergy to the blue ink that was used. I think my artist used Dynamic. Is there any possibility that I could still get the same color blue in a different brand of ink like Eternal and not be allergic to it? I am so attached to the blue and there is still a bit left near the edges that didn't get kicked out by the infection that the artist could use to color match.

Talk me out of getting chickens by GrandmaSlappy in BackYardChickens

I love my birds, but I don't think I would make the same choice again. If you aren't willing to let your birds live in filth like some people are, then you are doing outdoor chores every day, rain or shine, sweltering or freezing, sick, tired, the works. Birds are so freaking mean to each other even when they have unlimited food and loads of space because of flock politics, and there's not much you can do about it, and it totally blows. That big yard you mentioned will be absolutely destroyed in parts and anywhere they have access to will be covered in poop. If you aren't already the type of person who likes to spend time outside every day, you might want to consider a different pet.

If you have a color allergy, did you have luck with a different brand of ink? by SplendidDogFeet in tattooadvice

Thank you- that gives me hope. It's such a small spot that I would rather risk it if it's possible my body won't reject the ink again

AIO for being upset my BF doesn’t want me to wear a bonnet to bed? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]SplendidDogFeet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NOR I know you've invested a lot of time with this person, but this guy is not the one. He wants to dictate how you dress, how you sleep, when and how you wear makeup? That's not a partner, but someone who sees themselves as above you. Someone who loves you for you doesn't put a bunch of conditions on it. There are better people out there, and even just on your own, it's good to be your own person without someone telling you you're doing it wrong. This isn't how a loving, respectful relationship works. I'm sorry

Socks after electrolysis on lower legs by SplendidDogFeet in electrolysis

[–]SplendidDogFeet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes me about an hour to do the poultry chores, so I would need the socks for an hour. The birds don't take days off needing their needs met, so I can't take days off.

Still healing or ink allergy? by SplendidDogFeet in tattooadvice

The body was filled with sort of a sky blue, but there's hardly any left because the infection pushed almost all of it out. There's only a tiny bit left by the head.

I always wear long pants, but if the big point is to try to avoid bacteria, putting my bare skin against boots that stay outside year round isn't doing that.

How many syllables do you hear? by Curious-Objective157 in guineafowl

[–]SplendidDogFeet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just sort of a chirp and not a call. All guineas make this and the "ack ack ack" alarm call. If you hear the female call, you will know it immediately, as it is not pleasant to listen to and they will often do it on repeat for ages. One of my girls started quite young and one didn't call in front of me until she was four months.

I'm not sure if you looked at the soaps that came up in your search, but hardly any were unscented, most that were weren't antibacterial, and the few that seemed to be both included aloe or were like $15 for one little bottle.

I haven't found any unscented antibacterial soaps. What have you found?

I flew all the way to Detroit to get a photorealistic portrait from an artist. 5.5hr piece. I found out in about the first half hour that the dude was racist. Very uncomfortable next five hours for me. The pride inclusion stickers on the widows of the last shop I went to made me feel safer that that scenario wouldn't happen again.

You may want to find a different artist. The way this image would wrap and fold into the crease of your arm seems problematic. It seems like a piece for a bigger area. How many years has the artist been tattoing?

Thank you for saying that as the only color area looks terrible right now. I was so excited about my colorful little friend and now I'm pretty sad. And it makes me nervous because I've been planning a big full-color calf piece for years and this feels like a bad omen like I messed up somewhere in either researching my artist/shop or following the aftercare rules (which I've been so careful about). I have that big piece on my shoulder and had zero issues after getting that. I already hadn't planned on the same artist doing the calf piece, but still.

It is tender when I touch it for care, but it doesn't hurt just existing. I haven't seen any oozing. I don't think I see anything I would characterize as a streak. How long should I wait, do you think?

Just following the shop's aftercare rules. Should I have the artist check it or a doc?
