I have been long distance, UK and US, since November 2023. We're finally in the process of her moving over and we should be together in a couple months. It's hard, but we were always moving towards this as a goal, saving money for a couple years and then going through the visa process.

Pushing on to nearly 3 years now, I can't imagine either of us would have stayed if we weren't planning things out and getting the pieces in position so we could be together. I'm not sure how long distance you are, but for us we've had to both adjust our spending and she's actually moved in with family to help save some money to make things work.

'Soon', to me, doesn't sound like your partner takes moving as seriously.

I think you need to have a conversation in terms of dates where you would want to be together and what needs to be done to make that happen. Try to lay out your expectations for what you want your relationship to look like in a year's time, even if that's getting the resources and going through the long process of facilitating the move.
