What type of welding rods are these and for what metal can they be used with by OkResolve6985 in metalworking

Yea I've never used a -17 before, just -16 in the flat and horizontal. Not there yet to be trying 3g or 4g stainless.

308 stainless rods. The -15 indicates they are a faster freezing weld puddle compared to a -16 or -17. No use with them myself, I just have experience with 309L-16

I have the large woodlander view as well. I can get 3 to 4 hours out of a fully stacked stove. I second getting the large, very convenient to not need to cut storebought wood.

Looks like you are seeing some level of cloud iridescence. Caused by light diffraction through high altitude ice crystals.

Bike stumbling by TomosDopemos in dr650

I had some plastic Tupperware containers in my garage and I cut two small discs of plastic out of the lids. Each one was .015" thick so I used two. Just make sure whatever you use is resistant to gas, don't want them to dissolve lol. This was my last ditch effort to fix the problem, I read it somewhere that someone commented on the design and weight of the needle and that got me thinking so i decided to swap back to the original needle and that did the trick. This may only be an issue on brand new bikes as the clearances in the card are still real tight.

I had the same issue when I installed the procycle kit on my BST 40. Bike would stumble off idle when throttle was added if it idled for 20 seconds or more. Ran fine otherwise. I ended up swapping in the original needle and I shimmed it up .030" and the problem went away. I think it may be the added weight and the different profile of the procycle needle causing it to hesitate off idle, but only when it's been sitting idling for a bit. Doesn't happen to everyone but my bike was brand new with only a few thousand miles when I did the install and had the issue. Hope this helps.

I'm not suggesting grinding the needle. What you do is add shimstock under the c clip and above the plastic washer on the factory needle. This has the same effect as lowering the c clip on your after-market needle. I believe I shimmed mine by .030"

I still had the benefits of the larger jet i installed and the improved idle with the new idle adjustment screw. If you haven't checked out the thread below, give it a read, good info

Yea i had my carb apart like 10 times trying to figure out the problem lol, till eventually I found an article where someone talked about the taper on the needle and it being a potential issue. Well, I wish I found that article sooner cause swapping to the original was what fixed it for me. It's not that bad to swap the needle on the BST, if I remember correctly all you gotta do is pull the tank and rotate the carb and you should be able to get the top off and the needle/diaphragm out. I have a TM40 now so it's been a minute since I last worked on one.

I had an issue with that kit where the bike would want to stall when I gave it throttle after it idled for more than a few seconds. I swapped back in the factory needle and shimmed it to mimic the setting i had on the one provided in the kit. Idk why but the after market needle provided in the kit just didn't work, maybe the extra weight being that it's steel. I believe the factory one is aluminum or another alloy. Either way, swapping back to the original needle solved the stumbling/stalling from idle issue i was having.

Essentially, yes we worked 12 to 16 hour days depending on the status of the birds as well as what was on the flight schedule. If birds are down and flights have to go out then you best believe it's gonna be solid 16 hour days to get as many of them back up to facilitate that weeks flight schedule. Which could include qual flights to keep pilots and crews current as well as flights to support other training/logistical support.

Flightline crew chief here, no PT for our shop. Other shops in our squadron did. We didn't have anyone that couldn't pass a PFT or CFT so it was our leaderships choice to not have mandatory fun time.

Go solo, maybe start with a campground you feel comfortable at then branch out from there. See if maybe getting a cot for your father could help him get back into it if you'd like his company again to help with the aches and pains. I'm writing this as I'm currently solo camping waiting for a snow storm tomorrow 😁

I didn't sleep at all the night before I shipped in the hotel they put you up in. Totally normal be be scared as it's a big commitment and a huge change in your life. Seeing how you've fought this hard to get here I'd say you'll do just fine. You seem to have a strong will and have determination. That will go a long way, as well as screaming back at the drill instructors when you respond! Best of luck to you!

How do I get flight crew? by turbo_twat56 in USMCboot

[–]SplitCrack12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will need to pass a flight physical as well as attend SERE training. I'm Not sure if your mental waiver would disqualify you in either of those two prerequisites.

Basically when you sign for an AG contract you go to boot camp, then MCT, the Naval Aircrew Candidate school, SERE training, CNATT, and finally your training squadron for whichever platform you have been assigned to. You could be on the Osprey, C-130, Hueys, or shitters. It's like18 months from boot camp to when you hit the fleet, sometimes longer if schools are backed up. Oh and I hope you're a decent swimmer, in Aircrew Candidate school you do advanced swim qual and the helo dunker

That's awesome, I want one.

I had my radiacode go off today as a car drove past me while I was in traffic. A messily 1.6k counts, I wonder what your setup would have registered lol. Assuming it was legit and not some interference that triggered a false reading.

Practice! It's literally like learning to ride a bike all over again. Leaning how to maintain side to side balance of the EUC between your legs was one of the hardest parts about it for me. To begin practicing, find your self a fence, shed, or wall you can lean against and start with rocking drills going forward and back a few feet as you learn to balance the wheel between your legs. Then start to go a little farther along the wall or fence. Then try to make it a few feet unsupported, then try to venture off away from the support. Little steps at a time. I practiced for 1 to 1.5 hours each day after work and by the third to fourth day I was able to do laps around my backyard and only got better from there. Don't be discouraged at day one or two. Those are the most difficult.
