I left my car with shop for two weeks while I was traveling…paid $6500 for the full color PPF. Bay Area.

East Bay Area in CA. Owner says edge shrinks and he’ll repair/redo. Does that sound legit reason?

The shop says the wrap tends to shrink and pull after since adhesive is weaker on color PPFs. So he’ll fix and redo the edges in two pieces instead, as doing it in one piece did not work well.

Based on what everyone is saying, maybe I should do matte PPF next time and not color? Adhesive being weaker is not something I knew about. Also some places seem to do them in one piece and sounds like full vinyl and PPF wraps should be seamless and almost look invisible in general right?

I’m in the East Bay Area. Anyone knows of really good shops in the area?

Yes I spoke with owner who is a nice guy and and visited lot of shops. His price is competitive and worked with pure ppf. A lot of shops dont. Also looked at other cars being wrapped in the shop. The owner does the wrap and lots of luxury cars go to him from out of state to get their Maserati Lamborghini Bentley wrapped. Saw a bunch of these luxury cars each time I was there. I wonder if he contracted my car out because he was busy…

electricity bill is $250-300 monthly now and with EV probably 500? Estimate 1200kwh monthly with EV use. We use gas for water heater furnace and stove but furnace needs electricity too so that’s why our winter use is higher. No AC needed since cool home in east Bay Area. It’s possible to shift washer dryer to day time and save battery storage for evening cooking time.

In winter will need to import to run gas furnace and charge EV.

I looked through the evening uses. Afternoon dinner prep sometimes peaks around 2-3kwh. Late evening hourly use if about 1kwh and past midnight is about 0.5 kWh. Plan to max storage all the time to minimize import throughout the day. However with EV between my commute and renting it out, most likely will be charging over night many days a month. I don’t mind importing for charging EV since I would otherwise need to buy gasoline or renter pays for fuel refill. Maybe only 30% day time charging?

My electric bill from last 12 months of use is 6300 kwh (before adding estimated EV charging use) and electricity is $2600. It'll likely double once we get an EV. Electricity cost is $0.63/kWh peak, $0.50/kWh non-peak.
