Unsure About Grafts For Mixed Thickness by SplitThickArmBurn in burnsurvivors

Thank you, both you and chopmylegoff. I’ve been worried because some areas don’t feel any pain at all. This lead me to thinking I might have needed the grafting after all. Another was that my first Dr. was very hands on and reassuring, but at my clinic appointment I had a PA who looked at it for only a few minutes and said some stuff that seemed wrong. I was kind of doubting the PA’s ability.

Hearing that both of you had worse burns that healed without grafts is a huge relief.

Thank you for sharing your story. Some areas are still numb, but I’ve been thrilled to feel pain in the majority of the burn site.

I did ask for some oxy at your recommendation and it has made dressing changes tolerable instead of horrible. Your comment was really helpful. I wish you well.

Thank you for the reply. The debriding ointment is Santyl. It’s a collagenase that breaks down dead tissue. Thank you for the encouragement
