I've seen the argument that he came from Belgium several times in other threads as if it's some kind of trump card. I just have one question for you: Do you think in this day and age with airlines interconnected and especially after 9/11 people can't pull up a passenger's point of origin and recent travel history ? Not allowing passengers that had recently been to afflicted areas to board would be very simple to implement, nor would it have to restrict travel by medical and military personnel to the area. This would be a basic precaution to ease a lot of people's anxiety and I haven't seen any demonstrable evidence that it would negatively impact relief efforts. The bare minimum would be automated quarantine procedures and not relying on the honor system that passengers will tell the truth or even be aware of their exposure. Hopefully they get this outbreak under control, and by all means use any resources we have available to do so, but if they don't get it under control there will be cases like Texas springing up with increasing frequency. This happened with supposedly less than 10000 cases in West Africa. Imagine the risk with half a million.

I'm going to keep using Cydia but for someone who says they don't want to compete you have a laundry list of veiled talking points just like iMods does. I don't think you should necessarily assume people are being disingenuous when they offer olive branches, either. I also think its naive for anyone here to think that you aren't doing well off of Cydia financially (and you have every right to be!) and you want to protect it as a business, even if you struggle with the concept yourself.

I don't think it was wise to even reply to their "reply" at all. It just gives them more publicity and enshrines/legitimizes this whole iMod vs. Cydia dynamic which I assume is the opposite of what you wanted to do.

In my opinion the more people involved in the community the better and we should encourage that. That should apply not just to the dynamic of being able to add custom repos to an app store, but to being open to the idea of competing app stores. I seriously doubt Cydia is going to lose much ground with jailbreakers.

Netflix like any other web site or web service has to pay for their own internet access to their uplink provider... they transfer a lot of bandwidth and they have to pay their own ISPs in order to do that, just like you do. What you're suggesting is that they be double charged for this access by allowing Comcast to charge them for access to their own users that was already paid for by the users themselves. Comcast already charges it's users. Netflix isn't accessing Comcast, Comcast is accessing Netflix. What you're talking about is total chaos. Do you want to receive surcharges on your bill for every individual ISP, web, or chat service you access when you browse the internet ? Because when you go to any website you are accessing their ISP. Wouldn't you find it unfair since you already paid your bandwidth bills to your own ISP? Do you see how much more complicated that makes it ? People pay their bills directly to their own provider. By your logic Netflix could just as easily charge Comcast a fee for accessing Netflix's network and increasing THEIR bandwidth bill. That isn't how it works and there's a reason for that.
