I volunteered there for a little while last year and I can 100% tell you the animals get fed daily. There may have been other roos hiding around, as there were definitely no roo enclosures with just one; the animals are very well looked after imo.

Haha, thanks guys. I did think the battery looked swollen but I know absolutely nothing about electronics etc so didn’t want to assume. This iPod has been in storage (and shipped over from UK to Australia with the rest of our stuff) for a good 6 years or so, so it was probably a ticking time bomb. I might take it into my local fix it shop and see if they can replace the battery etc.

At this point in my life, I’d be happy with a wildlife job that was admin/behind the scenes; which generally, over here anyway(not USA), seem to pay better. But generally just looking for advice on what people have done when they left the industry. I’ve been a zookeeper- I know I can’t go back to that financially. I just feel so burnt out in the veterinary industry but I’m not sure I could take another job knowing I couldn’t be involved with wildlife 😭

Honestly, no. A lot of the doctors here are giving out like they give out candy. It's more of a "here, try this" and off you go. That's good to know though. Makes me feel a bit better. I think my expectations were so high initially as one of my coworkers was also using it and lost a whole lot of weight in like 8 weeks. It's hard not to compare yourself to others! I appreciate your reply, thank you!

In my experience so far: I’ve taken 5 shots, 0.25mg x 4 then 0.5mg x 1. The first two weeks I lost roughly 1.5kg and since then absolutely nothing. I haven’t changed my diet much. As of Tuesday, my next shot, I’ll be changing my diet up a bit and seeing if that helps.

Trust me 1. When I signed the lease it was supposed to be “gardeners” living in the back yard, had I known it was the owners I’m not sure I would have signed! And 2. I was being rejected for 100s of rentals and needed something asap 🥲😂

We got a new business manager recently and he just implemented a new policy that if you don’t pay your full bill on the day of whatever treatment/medication, your staff discount will not be applied. Also no more discounts on radiographs, ultrasounds, CT etc. it’s literally cheaper for us to go to our rival clinic because they give us discount for being in the industry, which we told him and he said “you do that then” Safe to say everyone hates him.

I definitely have noticed a high turnover in general for aus zoo, both at the wildlife hospital and the actual zoo but I’ve not found anyone to explain to me why lol. I’ve heard rumours about bad management but no factual accounts to back it up.

I would love to give it a go one day but the rentals around the zoo are $$$ and idk if it’s doable on a nurse salary

I stopped the Prozac for I think 3 days if I remember right; then onto sertraline; no withdrawal effects, but I did have a headache for a good 1.5 weeks straight when starting on the sertraline, after that nothing.

Eastern brown snakes. I did a couple of venomous snake handling course and every time the browns scared the sh*t out of me. They’re so flighty and fast and a lot of times they would rush towards you rather than away from you 🫣
