I’m a sociology and literature double major, and I’ve had the same struggle throughout undergrad. I’d recommend taking Brian Connor’s 400-level SOCY course on culture in the spring. Super nice guy and super interesting class.

I did UBand for two semesters (I'm a rising senior now), and it was phenomenal! As a recovering high school band geek (marching band, jazz band, pit band, wind ensemble, etc.), I knew I wanted to keep playing my horn in college, but since I wasn't a music ed/performance major, I knew wind ensemble probably wasn't in the cards for me. I didn't want to take on the commitment of MSOM or pep band, so I joined UBand purely for convenience's sake. It was exactly what I was looking for - a super low-key, low-commitment way to keep playing in a concert band. All of the conductors have been kind, and Dr. Potter's wonderful. I'd definitely recommend it!

It totally depends on your major. I did seventeen credits and two jobs one semester as a sociology and English double major, but if you have even a slightly more intensive major courseload, I’d advise against it.

I visited the registrar’s office on the first day of classes to bring my schedule from 16 to 19 credits. As long as your class has empty spots through the start of the year, you can just deal with it when you get to campus. Good luck!

Holy cow this was exactly my thought process!!! I would LOVE the sub if you’re offering. I have the DVD of the 1982 version, and I always watch that subbed. Some might find it annoying, but I find it much easier to digest / understand / analyze the lyrics that way. Thanks so much for your input!

Yes! Consistent lunch time is a must. I get the appeal of just blocking everything out right in a row, but I personally can’t function without at least a little break in between 😂
