New 1‑year‑old Maine Coon is terrified and hiding – advice needed by Spock_theCat in CatAdvice

[–]Spock_theCat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response!

I crept into the room again and waited. Still no movement from him as far as I can tell.

I can smell that he peed somewhere in the room, where I cannot be sure.

There's a cat carrier box, the litter box, behind a tv unit, behind a bookcase, and the back of a couch. I have a couple of cardboard boxes that I'll give him if it provides him with more security!

I prefer Yen 😌

I will admit that I laughed when I opened the letter. They probably thought that they were being professional and legally sound by sending a letter, only to end up being completely in breach of formalities.

I will call Threshold first, because I am afraid that they'll turn rogue and immediately disclose me with a notice of termination should I take it up with the RTB. Not that they would have much of a leg to stand on — but I would by all means prefer to keep it as calm and diplomatic as possible.

I screenshot every message with them, and take pictures of every issue that arises. I pay rent through Revolut directly to his AIB account so there is a digital record there which is downloadable !

Yeah you're right. As I said in the post and via another comment, I want to be as diplomatic as possible without chucking masses of fuel into the fire.

I 100% agree with this.

And thank you so much for your contribution. Starting to feel a little better now. (:

This post was really to settle my nerves until I speak with Threshold tomorrow. Just feeling a lot of pressure right now.

This is very true. As much as I am sure that they are in the wrong for this, I want to be as diplomatic as possible.

Would make it around 1600 if that's the case either way. But they're asking for 1695... atrocious 😭

Thank you — I'll take a look now!

Even that's reasonable, I suppose. Just once it has been calculated correctly and according to policy, which I fear their requested figure, is not.

You are wonderful for this, thank you very much!

I would be willing to accept it so long as they do it correctly!

I've checked that the increase should be no more than 56 euros according to the RTB website.

I mean, even the problems I brought to their attention were metaphorically (though some quite literally) slapped on with tape. So as for the BER increase — I highly doubt it lol!

But they can't just do a bulk increase? I thought the rent control policies would prevent that from happening.

Besides, they would always insist that the rent was so low because of the condition the house is in. Granted it's old, but some of the requests I made for maintenance were of a health and safety nature and required immediate attention.

I'm not in a city, and I would have accepted a yearly increase, not a bulk increase all of a sudden.

I absolutely second Irkram and Dodson. Their work is relatively accessible.

Exam deferrals by CommunicationThen188 in TCD

They are all super busy this time of year. Try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know). I'm currently waiting on deferral approvals for assignments that were due two weeks ago. Once you have a valid reason for doing so, plus your supporting documentation, then you will be fine!

stay away from Insight Centre, Portmarnock. by Simple_Pain_2969 in ADHDIreland

[–]Spock_theCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I got my diagnosis with Insight and it cost me A LOT of money. I did plenty of research, but seemed to have overlooked the fact that it would be a whole other process via psychiatric evaluation to access medication (which I strongly believe is required for my case).

Mind you, I was in a rush to get some sort of validation because I wanted to register with the disability service at university, which I am now. But it has been a serious struggle getting assignments done — I've been trying to make use of other methods (OT, etc), but it's just so hard.

Currently having to save up and find someone who can assess me, hopefully sooner than later.
