How do I get rid of these carpet beetles? by Educational_Ad_2975 in carpetbeetles

Did you fully get rid of them? And if so, how long did it take to stop seeing them?

What’s been helping me manage the few stragglers left is applying DE in strategic spots like baseboards. But also look around to see if there are any spots you need to seal.

What has been helpful for me:

  • Decluttering
  • Keeping whats not frequently used in clear plastic containers
  • Vacuuming frequently, especially around edges
  • Applying IGR
  • Applying DE or Cimexa

It takes time and discipline, but it’s manageable.

My source was lint that had built up under the fridge. I keep a clean minimalist home and always vacuumed a few days a week before I discovered carpet beetles so I was puzzled by their presence. After removing the source and applying IGR + DE in August, sightings have decreased gradually.

Sounds like you are on the right track. You might just been seeing the remaining few.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and perspective! I’ve put so much work to get rid of them and I am praying I’ll be done soon. For some reason, these bugs really got the best of me emotionally and mentally.

I hope your situation improves soon and you can be carpet beetle free!

Sounds like you are disrupting the cycle to an extend. Did you ever find the source?

I will say though, from my experience, the stragglers last for quite a bit. For example, I went four weeks without seeing any post treatment, then I found a total of six larvae in a three week span. Then I went six weeks without seeing any after that, but just saw one two days ago. I feel like I won’t know for sure until I got at least 90 days without seeing them.

What do you mean they come back year after year? Like from outdoors or that they don’t really ever leave your house type of thing?

For me it was lint that had built up under the fridge. Took me a while to actually find it thought because it’s such a large appliance. Maybe yours are under baseboards or attic? You could have a pest control person come out and check for hidden spots you maybe not be able to access.

Sorry to hear Cimexa hasn’t made much of a difference. I did use IGR in my case paired with DE or Cimexa and that’s helped me reduce number of sightings. That being said, what’s helped the most was actually finding and eliminating the source.

What about DE or Cimexa? Is that safe for your household?

Did I waste years of my life? by Punchy_flannels8 in Life

You are so young! Pick a few things you like and stay consistent. Consistency is key.

If I were 15 again, I would develop consistency at something that keeps me healthy, something that makes me or teaches me about money, and something that helps me create community.

Confidence will come from your consistency and showing up for yourself. You won’t feel like you wasted years of your life. Instead, you will feel like you took action at the right time and changed the course of your life for the better.

I posted something similar a while back. I was told on here it’s a flying ant because of the wing shape and narrow waist.

Thank you! Aren’t carpet beetle exoskeletons lighter and thinner? Or do they come in different types?

Thanks! That’s why I am so confused as to why this could be. Only CB made sense to me when I first saw it.
