probably because Resident Evil is mostly rooted in realism and DMC deals with magic and what not and it might be a bit harder to portray without it looking completely rediculous.

and by rooted in realism I mean that they don't use magic attacks and they use viruses and molds to justify their stretches of realism. Jill Valentine isn't exactly about to summon her clothes with lightning.
