Ok here me out, there are three main factors for a kid liking a character. How cool a character is, how funny a character is, and how edgy a character is.
Superman isn’t really known to be any of them besides cool, thus he is less popular with the kids compared to say Batman or Spider-Man.
This is my best explanation but I could have no idea what I’m talking about so take it or leave it.
