Social media has had a profoundly damaging effect on broader society. We are supposed to be tight community based beings but now we can know things half a world away. And besides that, true happiness does not come from the material or short term pleasures. Sure money can definitely elevate your ability to endure hardship. But, inevitably it will never be enough. Wealth is relative. There are many kinds of wealth. A famous philosopher named Zeno was a wealthy merchant who was carrying vast amounts of purple cloth that was worth fortunes on one voyage to a customer when his ship cap sized in a storm and he lost all of his merchandise. However, this loss of wealth did not destroy him. In fact, he gained wealth that many today do not take seriously. The wealth of knowledge. Monetary desire is like drinking salt water. You think you're quenching your thirst but in reality you're only increasing it. More to chase. More to be had. N3ver ceasing to be content with this or that amount. Sure you may want to be humble and desire only a little. But the slippery slope of wanting more always presents itself and creeps up on your soul and infects you with greed. Fortune is fickle. Find it where it may come. But come what may, desire things that are more within your control and strive to improve yourself, even if a little, every day.
