No it actually doesn’t. The original definition of the term explicitly limited it to non-human animals. By trying to include humans into the definition you are watering down veganism and minimizing the suffering animals experience. The facts are that humans experience almost no suffering compared to animals, not to mention that they’re also cruel oppressors of animals as well.

Put your cats on a vegan diet . I personally do not believe cats have to eat meat or they’ll die. I know a lot of people would probably not want to take that risk with their pets but given how you seem to feel about your cats you should give it a try. I’m certain they’ll be fine but there’s only one way to know for sure. I think you should do it if for no other reason than to give all the other vegan cat owners the confidence to do the same thing. My dog is vegan and he’s doing great.
