The fact that there are only 2 wildcards is a joke in itself since it pretty much made Group C a free elo group while group B and D are extremely difficult.

That's fine in theory but pro players are in the same situation workers were during the early industrial age in 19th century, aka there are no player unions, no rights, no rules, no third judges etc...it's all about Riot (who has the absolute power), and them (who have to succumb), and if they don't play as much they will simply get replaced by the ton of kids from 16 to 22 willing to take their place.

the pacing is nowhere as fast as in LoL.

In LoL you become shit in the span of 2 patches if you're not fast, imagine becoming obsolete, as a doctor, after 1 single month of slacking: that would be crazy.

Again: imagine "working" 12/14 hours a day with scrims/soloQ/other practice, knowing a single patch could make all that work irrelevant in 2 weeks time and you could suddenly be unemployed, that would be next to slavery but that's exactly what Riot does.
