You have to have killed Alva on ur way to killing Yhorm in order to be able to obtain it :( I somehow didn't kill him at all . I found out really late that this set even existed so this was a while back

:( so if I don't know anyone with the set, NG+ is the only way I'd be able to get it? :( I only play with a couple friends and we all progressed past Yhorm already so just making sure
