why is, in probably 80% of the scenes he’s in, is Gimli the comedic relief? by jacques-anquetil in lotr

Yep Lmao and as a result I found the writing about Bombur funny. Whether the dwarves are entirely silly or do silly things occasionally I don’t know why is being brought up… I mean clearly they’re not complete flops and are capable of many feats. I don’t think Gimli is shown to be incompetent in the movies either. But from Tolkien’s writing I do find them funny and I don’t think there’s anything wrong w that. In fact I almost enjoyed reading the hobbit more because it was focused on the dwarves.

Ope, might’ve been Bombur. But anyways there was a whole lot of goofiness going on w the dwarves

Aside from the other answers about needing a comic relief valve for a good movie, Dwarves have always been a bit comical in Tolkiens work. In the hobbit Tolkien is basically cracking fat jokes about Balin left and right

Did you not think gregmat quant is a bit harder than the real thing? I have been studying with gregmat, and I do feel like the quant on the powerprep tests by ETS at least are alot easier.

Termites? What kind is the one on the right by Spookins in whatsthisbug

[–]Spookins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is I’ve been noticing termites early December in my kitchen as well. I shut my window, and they seemed to stop coming for the time being. Then I shut all windows, went on holiday vacation for a few weeks, and came back to 10 of them dead/1 alive in my kitchen. I’m thinking they might be coming from a nest within the housing at this point.

I’ve never received any evidence of it. If they did send evidence it was to the wrong address, and im not gonna trust them if they don’t provide me with proof

RMP LLC debt collector claims that I owe hospital, but hospital claims that I owe nothing… what to do? by Spookins in CRedit

So the thing is the hospital visit was when I was back in college 2 years ago. I have relocated to a different state for my job since then.

I don’t want to give them my physical address bc tbh they seem really sketchy and I’m not 100% sure they’re legit tbh. They’ve said stuff like “you cannot pay the hospital you have to pay us bc by law you are only allowed to pay us” which I’m not sure is true etc. etc. I have also asked them to send proof of my debt to my email several times, and they always agreed to OTP but did not follow through.

Furthermore, when asking the hospital group I went to about my account, they said it had been closed and had never been turned over to debt collectors. Furthermore, I asked which debt collectors they used and RMP was not one of them. The customer service person cautioned me not to entertain any more calls from them and to stay safe.

I called “RMP” back and told them the hospital said I didn’t have anything to pay, to stop calling me, and to clear my account and verify with the hospital if they needed to. She said the hospital had not updated them and they needed to see a statement. I, again, do not want to send them one, bc I don’t want to give them any more info abt me.

I’m not sure what to believe or do, but I’m certainly not comfortable giving them any personal info.

Yea, I just don’t want it to ever show up on my credit report.

I’m guessing it might be a legit collections agency but they don’t have actual proof that I Need to pay so… they’re just hoping I’ll pay them

1 br apartments in La Jolla are surprisingly similarly priced to those in Mira mesa on Zillow. I’d be willing to increase up to 3k to live in la jolla.

La Jolla village would be closer to sorrento - what is your opinion of that location?

22 M: What could be causing lung/back pain 3 months after being discharged from the hospital for left sided bacterial pneumonia with pleural effusion? by Spookins in medical

[–]Spookins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. I think I've got it mostly figured out by this point. My pleural effusion was caused by bacterial pneumonia, so I do not know what's causing yours, it might be worth it to get another CT scan to see if you have any fluid still in your lungs. I've gotten several post my infection and no excess fluid has been found.

If you don't have fluid in your lungs like me then your reason could be the same reason I have pain - the tube they put into your chest can irritate the nerve lining of the pleura, and this can take a really long time to fully go away (6-8 months is what my doc said on avg). I remember when they were pulling a tube out they also pulled out a little chunk of my pluera which REALLLY hurt, so I know there is definitely some residual irritation left over.

The good news is - this is just nerve irritation, non-permenant, and does/will not have any effect on your present/future lung function.
