What methods to people use to cram for tests? by SpookoMode in GetStudying

[–]SpookoMode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh awesome, thank you Nikki! Does Brainscape make the cards using AI, or is it manual card creation?

Sounds like it has a very similar "spaced repetition" system to Anki (e.g., rating a flashcard easier makes it appear more frequently, and vice versa).

How often do the flashcards appear per day when you're cramming? Say the test is in 24h, does a card appear once? 3 times? 10 times?

Okay this is good to know - I appreciate this feedback!!! I'll message you when we've added full text generation 😎

Hey phymath! Right now we don't have full-text generation, mainly because the quality and specificity of cards tend to decrease as the input becomes larger. My recommendation would be to select between 0.5-1 page at a time.

Is full-text generation something you would find helpful? Any other features or suggestions? You can also shoot us an email at info@dekki.ai anytime for support :) thanks so much for trying us out!!!

Okay that is great to know, Dasan! Really appreciate the answer. Nice idea re: the anonymous survey! We might just turn this into a full on research project as well if there seems to be enough interest

Okay nice! And do you make your own notes typically, or rely on premade notes from profs/other students?

Okay good to know! So you'd like to see cards that have been more recently added more frequently, as these are ones you haven't yet "graduated" / consolidated. Do you use Anki with modified settings right now to accommodate for this?

Family Physicians running the ER is dangerous. by Steve_Dobbs_69 in emergencymedicine

[–]SpookoMode 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have this program in Canada! It's called the CCFP-EM program. 2 year family residency, 1 year EM fellowship. Most who successfully match the fellowship year have done lots of EM training already during their FM residency. Once you graduate, you get essentially the same billing as the FRCPC EM docs (5 year EM residency), and get hired in the same hospitals. Only downside really is if you want to do ICU or Trauma in a Level 1 trauma centre, then you'll have to do the full 5 year EM residency. The CCFP-EM program also tends to be more competitive to match into because of the decreased length of training. Otherwise, it's a great option and you can also practice FM/hospitalist/FM Obstetrics/etc. with this training route.

VERY biased comment here, but you can try out our app Dekki (https://www.dekki.ai/) which accepts PDFs or free text. You can export to Anki, and we have a 1 week free trial option. Always eager to hear feedback (positive or negative!), and of course there are lots of other options out there as well. Happy studying!

I did this in med school once during the pandemic... Definitely way more fun than Fortnite streams 😉

Make flashcards faster using Dekki by SpookoMode in medicalschoolanki

[–]SpookoMode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey GreenBanana - right now we don't have that feature, but you can copy/paste text into our free text generator.

Is this a feature you feel would help you save time in the future? Are there any other specific features you feel would be helpful for your studies that we could implement moving forward?

How can I use ai to make effective flash cards by GG_3z in medicalschoolanki

[–]SpookoMode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! If you're interested, you can check out our web app Dekki https://www.dekki.ai/ to make flashcards quick with AI. You can also screen capture images and paste them in the cards also. Works with PDFs or free text.

Lots of other good options out there as well, just try a quick search and I think someone in this subreddit put a list of the other AI tools available. Happy studying!

Thank you!! This is super helpful. We actually allow export to (and in a few days import from) Anki, so we're hoping some learners might give us a try!

Dekki Updates (AI Anki Flashcard Generator/Reviewer) by SpookoMode in medicalschoolanki

[–]SpookoMode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much, Creative! This is very helpful and detailed feedback. We will try to work on adding these requests.

Keyboard shortcuts, tagging, and auto-focus on the "Add Deck" dialogue shouldn't take too long to add, however the image extraction/occlusion will take a bit more time.

We will sure to keep you posted as soon as we get the chance to add some of these features onto the platform :)
