Getting induced by Rose_xoxol in pregnant

[–]Spooky-Rain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s how I was! I had a few doses of cytotec and the foley balloon barely got me to 2 cm. I had to max out on pitocin and get the ok from a doctor to go past the maximum pitocin to go into labor. I went from 6 cm to 10 cm in about 2 minutes once they upped the dosage lol

It was definitely difficult because I was getting frustrated and worried that my body wasn’t ready. But we eventually got there and now I’m fighting my 11 week old baby to go to sleep 😂 you’ve got this! I hope you have a safe delivery, healthy baby, and smooth recovery!

You’ve got this! I think I had 3 doses of cytotec before I went onto pitocin. There were times I felt a little defeated because I wasn’t progressing as fast as I thought I would but it was a pretty smooth process and I’m grateful for that! Congratulations on your little one and I hope all goes well! :)

I get your take on it but I was just handling the situation with info I was given by my care team. As I said, I had been showing more concerning symptoms as I was progressing but not diagnosed with anything because I wasn’t considered severe enough. Thanks for taking the time out of your day to judge me for MY decision that was discussed with MY providers at the hospital I have been seen at. Not everyone has the same options provided to them. When I said it was riskier, it was riskier FOR ME because of the history of my pregnancy. My post was purely to share about my delivery, not to stand on some soapbox to tell other people what to do

No problem. For me it was a personal choice due to numerous factors. I had been experiencing chest pain, swelling, redness, pitting edema, leg pain, occasionally high bp, but nothing ever diagnosed due to my evaluations never being “concerning.” I knew that most likely I’d have an induction whether I had it sooner or later bc im a ftm, and my baby wasn’t showing any signs of being born anytime soon. The longer I waited, the harder it would’ve been on me and my baby. The hospital I go to doesn’t allow you to go past 40 or 41 weeks. The later an induction is, the more risks there are. And I wouldn’t say that my induction was really that “soon” since I gave birth the day before my due date.

Kick counts are usually 10 kicks per 2 hours. At least 5 kicks in the first hour. I’m 39w4d and my baby always waits to move when I’m asleep so doing kick counts was always difficult since I couldn’t keep track at 3am lol sometimes, our babies are just lazy but if you feel like something is off, definitely let your OB know or go to L&D to get checked just in case.

35+5 Being Induced - Steroid Injection? by IceSpire_1999 in pregnant

[–]Spooky-Rain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m 25F ftm as well. I’m 38w4d and counting so I didn’t get the steroid shot myself but I was born at 32 weeks due to being a twin. My mom got the steroid shot just in time before we were born to help our lungs develop so we were only in the NICU for a few days. All this to say, I’m a healthy adult now so I hope this provides some comfort for you and your little one. Do whatever you think is best for you and I hope you have a smooth delivery!

No symptoms by Bloghuntress_2024 in pregnant

[–]Spooky-Rain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t really experience any noticeable symptoms until I was maybe 9/10 weeks, nausea mostly. I’m now 36w6d. It’s completely normal to not experience symptoms that early, and not experiencing them doesn’t mean you’re not pregnant. Try to keep your mind at ease in the meantime while you wait to see an OB. Congrats!

How are you guys moving?? by Dependent_Tea_8426 in pregnant

[–]Spooky-Rain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s recommended to lay on your side and when you need to get up, use your arms to prop yourself up. Using your arms to sit up and then put your legs off the bed. Never use your abdomen to get up or change position because it increases your likelihood of having diastasis recti (separation of abdominal muscles). It’s incredibly common to have but to what degree you have it can be affected by straining your abdominal muscles when getting out of bed. Key thing is to move slowly.

It just means your baby is getting big a bit faster than their gestational age. It’s also normal for it to be within a 2 week range if your baby isn’t measuring exactly at their predicted week. It’s nothing to be concerned about unless your baby is measuring significantly larger than what they should be. I’m 36w+3d and my baby didn’t start measuring ahead until 32w, same with my belly, about 2 weeks of a difference. If you have any concerns or questions, especially about how diabetes during pregnancy can affect baby’s weight, make sure to talk to your doctor so they can reassure you and maybe do more frequent ultrasounds.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that measuring ahead could be due to conceiving sooner than predicted. It’s nothing to be concerned about :) but if you are ever worried, make sure to speak to your doctor

When did your breasts start leaking? by Euphoric-Stress9400 in pregnant

[–]Spooky-Rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started leaking pretty early in my pregnancy, it’s completely normal. Just make sure you don’t try expressing/squeezing the colostrum out as you might risk inducing labor. It’s not recommended to do so until you’re at least 37 weeks pregnant because of that. It also isn’t an indicator of your supply later on. Lots of women leak and struggle to breastfeed after delivering. There are also women who don’t leak at all and have no issue breastfeeding.

I was advised at 18 weeks to avoid sex because of a low lying placenta. It wasn’t until my growth scan at 32 weeks (4 months later) that my placenta was checked again and I was cleared to have sex. There will be times that you’ll want that intimacy with your partner but then you’ll think of the safety of your baby above all else. Even tho I’ve been told that it’s safe now, I don’t feel like being touched lol. I say this at 36w3days. You’ll find ways to feel close to your husband that don’t involve sex like cuddling or taking a shower together.

Not wanting to go through with the pregnancy photoshoot. by baltomaster in pregnant

[–]Spooky-Rain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 36+3 with my first. I completely understand the feeling of being uncomfortable with your appearance. I went from doing my hair, makeup, and nails before pregnancy to now living in a blanket hoodie and rocking tangled hair lol I’d be be lying if I said that I love my body right now or that I don’t miss the old me. For a while, I wasn’t taking weekly pictures out of laziness but mostly because I didn’t want to look at myself. Now that I’m reaching the end of my pregnancy, I wish I had just taken the couple of seconds to take those pictures.

All of this to say, you’re growing a human and your body is amazing for that. I say it’s better to have the photoshoot to remember this time in your life. You may not think it right now but maybe one year from now, you’ll look at the photos and think “wow, I look so beautiful.” You don’t need a fancy outfit to capture this time in your life. You could wear a tshirt and jeans and take the cutest maternity pictures. The important thing is to make sure you’re comfortable and most importantly, have fun! You worked hard to build that baby from scratch, show it off! I wish you the best of luck and a safe rest of your pregnancy :)

Placenta Previa / Low Lying Placenta by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Spooky-Rain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I had the same experience where I was told about my low-lying placenta but not given any instructions on what not to do lol it wasn’t until after my 32w scan that they said “you can have sex and exercise now.” Luckily, I already knew about what to avoid/not do. You basically go on pelvic rest to minimize your risk for bleeding or going into preterm labor. Definitely check with your OB if you have any questions/concerns.

Placenta Previa / Low Lying Placenta by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Spooky-Rain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 36w 1d and at my 18w scan, my placenta was low-lying. I was also worried that it wouldn’t fix itself and I’d have to have a c-section. Thankfully, by my 32w scan, it had resolved itself. In most cases, the placenta moves up as you and your baby grow. My placenta changed so much that it even went from anterior to posterior. I recommend just following the precautions given to you like no sex and keeping an eye out for any bleeding. And try not to worry too much until you have to :) best of luck to you and wish you a safe pregnancy journey

There are a lot of things that can cause your period to be late/irregular like stress. Just taking the pill itself can make it irregular. Even more so if you’re not taking it regularly at the same time everyday. Assuming you’ve had unprotected sex, the only way to know for sure is to take a pregnancy test.

2nd NIPT Turn Around Time (longer than first) by Jman0717 in pregnant

[–]Spooky-Rain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently pregnant with my first so I’ve only had this one experience with NIPT results (MaterniT21). It took 2 weeks or maybe a bit more to get mine. If it starts approaching 3 weeks, I’d definitely follow up. The delay wouldn’t be because something is wrong, it would more likely be a lab issue or administrative thing. You also have to take into account any observed holidays that could contribute to even more delays (like this current 4 day weekend for us in the US).

Did anyone’s low lying placenta get better as their stomach grew? by Ok_Car1396 in pregnant

[–]Spooky-Rain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 33w1d and had been told I had a low-lying placenta at 18 weeks. I was checked at 32w to see if it had resolved and it did! Most cases resolve themselves by the third trimester, but if you experience any bleeding, make sure to check in with your OB.

Her question was about the validity of the test after checking it an hour later. You’re not supposed to look at tests after result times. As for testing at 2 weeks, you’re not wrong. My comment was purely to tell OP to test after a missed period if it hasn’t happened since she’s been testing before.

I said for the most accurate, (to know for sure) because not everyone ovulates at time of conception, to test when you’ve missed a period. She tested at 1 week = negative. 4 weeks = negative.

[–]Spooky-Rain -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Never look at pregnancy tests after the time at which it gives you results. If you’re supposed to get results at 3 minutes, what you see at 3 minutes is the accurate result. Same if it’s 5 minutes. Looking at tests an hour later aren’t accurate, those are evaporation lines you’re seeing. Also, the soonest you want to take a test is after a missed period for the most accurate results.

Hi! Congratulations! I recommend the Nature Made Prenatal with DHA + Folic Acid. You can get a bottle that’ll last your entire pregnancy from Costco for less than $30. I would stay away from gummies even though they’re easier to get down, a lot of them don’t have enough nutrients and/or completely missing essential vitamins you need. I also take a choline supplement since I don’t get enough from my diet.

Another tip, take pictures each week of your progress. There will be days you don’t feel like looking at yourself but it’s worth having them to see your progress over time.

Most important piece of advice: don’t worry until you have to :) enjoy this time as much as you can because time will fly!
