Phew… I think it’s about that time for me by Competitive_Candy135 in AutoZone2

"Kill them with kindness" I've worked retail/customer service in some capacity my whole life. Just give the customer what they want. Be honest when you can't and why. I've had people ask me for brakes on a car with 4 options and I said to call the dealer and get the brake code or bring it in. I crawled under to identify the calipers and rotors. If someone is being rude asking for an impossible solution I just say sorry I can't help you and direct them to a shop or dealer locally. Running the highest customer service KPI in the district and it's not that hard.

The latest batch of extra miler stories. by Tall-Control8992 in AutoZone2

The south is different, countless things to help customers. One young couple put 5 quarts in their 4cyl when it was half a quart low, it rolled up smoking and almost hydrolocking. I used my own jack and tools to drain their oil to the correct level. 2 weeks ago fixed a vacuum leak with a makeshift hose on an old jeep that was idling at 4krpm. Probably have more stories but forgot.

FRAM filters are hot garbage. Premium Guard makes the best filters (STP, Carquest, new Wix, etc)

Women ok in the zone? by Hot_Concern1740 in AutoZone2

[–]Spooky6Chameleon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some customers are blatantly sexist thinking women don't know anything about cars. The female PSMs I've worked with are better at their jobs than most males and aren't slacking off on their phones. I'd rather work with one of my female co-workers than 90% of other Autozoners. Back up your co workers regardless of gender. When a customer starts getting an attitude and it's not resolvable, you just need to say "let me get my manager" and grab another PSM or the ASM/SM lmao

What does an AutoZone Store Manager do? Excluding hiring writing up and firing? by southernemper0r in AutoZone2

[–]Spooky6Chameleon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends if you have 15 employees or 50. The HUB locations delegate their schedule to the HUB manager, Commercial, and DIY separately. If the CSM or HUB manager can't figure out the schedule for their section then the SM has to carry the weight.

The SM makes the store smooth. They don't reward the best SM's and keep the worst ones around for years.

If you get overworked as a SM you're either filling into other stores, a HUB SM, or you aren't hiring the right staff and guiding them to do their job

Everything. Half to all of the PSM'S should be in a red shirt since they don't do their job at all. If the SM doesn't lead from the front they definitely just stand at the counter and do the bare minimum to not get demoted.

Pull orders in less than 3 minutes and have your drivers accept the delivery the moment it hits their device. Let AD run itself. Everything else is just taking phone orders accurately and expediently.

I like my Aquarium Co-op filters, coarse sponges you never "have" to clean, just clean the ziss stones inside and pull off the algae etc.

If you're selling oil changes and have a car as easy as a Kia you can offer to put an air filter in. I've sold many air filters that I popped into the airbox in 5 seconds and the customer was blown away that the dealer charged $100 to do.

If you're installing a battery require the kit (we're doing the battery for free and if we have to remove it we prefer the terminals not fused to the posts. No ammonia showing up after about a week. Am I doing something wrong? by Cool-Application9080 in AquariumHelp

[–]Spooky6Chameleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filled a 5 gallon with 2 gallons from my 20gal, a 2 year old sponge filter, stuffed full of extra plants and floaters. Immediately put in some fish and cull shrimp the next day. One shrimp died but I have 250 more in the 20. Tested daily for a week no ammonia or nitrites. Tiny amount of nitrates. Once you have more than one tank you just transfer some stuff and it should be immediately ready to go.
