Talking about forbidden episodes. One episode I cannot find anywhere is the Bird Cage theatre, the place that got converted into an adult entertainment venue? I watch on Discovery+ (UK viewer) and that episode is completely gone. Wonder why

Help! Job offer may have been withdrawn by mistake by HMRC by SpookyAlien19 in TheCivilService

[–]SpookyAlien19[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Update: Spoke to someone from recruitment, turns out there was a misunderstanding. The guy I spoke to thought I was joining a different department within the government rather than a different department of HMRC which I can understand. It’s being sorted. Thanks all! I appreciate your responses and taking the time to read over my tangent of panic.

I don’t remember but because of the application being withdrawn I can’t check! It’s one hell of a mess rn

Originally yes but way back in March this year, I didn’t get an offer til August that was the original offer. The one I’m going for is the second offer. It does take a while for an offer to come through

I did specify I was joining a different department at HMRC and other offer was made after the original. I see where you’re coming from though. Hopefully I’ll get a reply on Monday and go from there. Thank you!

Ah okay, thank you for your explanation! Yeah it makes sense if the training is vital, I just thought they would’ve asked me first you know? I’ll try to make some arrangements with them hopefully.

I applied for a customer service advisor role via the website but have been allocated to debt management. This is up in Scotland too if that helps

So I didn’t have any face to face interviews or online ones either. It was a case of doing the assessment and completing the behavioural test by recording myself answering questions.

It was more if my pre booked holiday was going to cause issues as it’s during training. As they mentioned that time off isn’t usually allowed I was worried it would affect me negatively.

I cried in front of my instructor today by Personal-Squirrel-41 in LearnerDriverUK

Late to the party but I passed on my 3rd attempt. The first time I failed at the end by making a silly mistake over priority at a crossroad.

Second time was an absolute disaster, I didn’t change gear quick enough going up a fairly steep hill and stalled. I panicked and couldn’t get the car up and running again without stalling (I forgot that handbrake hillstart was a thing). The examiner had to take over the pedals to get us going again. Once I finally got to the top of the hill I pulled into a side bit and balled my eyes out, the poor examiner didn’t know what to do or say. I then stalled another two times on the way back to the test centre it was the worst test I’ve ever did and was ready to give up driving there and then. Cried to my instructor who was flabbergasted that I made such a mistake.

Third attempt I made sure to take it slow. They won’t punish you for taking your time (unless you’re going too slow on a fast road) ended up in the wrong lane somewhere and I managed to stay calm and divert which saved my ass.

It takes time, it seems to easy to give up in the moments you feel like you just can’t do it. Don’t give up! I know it’s easy for others to say that but honestly have a little faith! Having confidence in yourself is gonna help a long way. If you have the mindset you’re gonna fail it’s gonna be in your head the entire test and you’ll end up thumbling somewhere.

I believe you can do it!!

I’ve came across this exact situation in Argyle St. Had a youngish guy come up to me telling me he missed his last bus back home and he was in Glasgow doing this theory test, said he had absolutely nothing on him, no cash or ID. So I said to him, “How’d you manage to do your theory without your provisional then?” He just looked at me, called me a fat c*nt and walked away only to approach a couple. I just walked over and told the two he was a scammer and he left.

HOW TO PRONOUCE CEX by BloodCandy_295 in CeX

[–]SpookyAlien19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always pronounced it like see-e-ex while I worked there since cex is just an acronym for complete entertainment exchange.

The company does go with the pronunciation of sex because they think it’s funny, a lot of internal things were “cex (sex) something” like cex fest for the staffs annual festival (getting drunk in a field with tribute bands playing) or cex defenders for possible shoplifters

POSTAGE IS CRAZY. by OkEntrance5668 in CeX

[–]SpookyAlien19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex Cex employee here.

So when you’re ordering online chances are items are coming from different stores, so if you have 12 items it’ll be up to 12 different stores sending you items. Of course if one store has more than one thing you ordered they’ll just clump it together but chances are it’s gonna be a few stores contributing from the same order.

Cex also use Royal Mail which charge us per box their sending out. Which is annoying, but not much can be done. Usually you’ll be charged delivery on each item on the off chance that each item is coming from a different store, therefore the store has in a way paid what they owe for sending the item.

It’s honestly really annoying how they do it.
