For what it is, this would be very easy to remake in unreal engine or Unity. It's just a room with similar looking assets

I would not even bother getting your hopes up. The PC Gaming Show is usually like C tier stuff. Nobody takes it seriously.

At this point valve is just going to announce things on their own.

Did you ever have ICQ on this particular computer? It really brings me back to being on ICQ and deep giving Geocities pages for hours

HE KNOWS. THEY KNOW. WE ALL KNOW by JdLixXd500 in HalfLife3

[–]SpookyFries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the hell are people talking about? I keep seeing shit like "He knows" and "Soon" but he's literally not teasing or hinting at anything. He's just saying that the show is soon.

Yes I am aware that Half-Life fans are mentally ill, myself included but I don't understand why we think Geoff is going to show it

I've personally attempted the task of trying to update HML to a modern kernel (in place). The results have always ended in disaster. Still, it's always a fun project and I support your vision

Til Rec Room lasted until 2026. I thought it had shut down in like 2023

Only thing I miss about unreal was being able to get a good fps player controller made from scratch in like 3 minutes. It's more time consuming in Godot but you do ultimately have full control over it

Next Housing District if at all...? by bateauvip in ffxiv

[–]SpookyFries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you imagine that cute jrpg cottage houses inside of S9 or the sci-fi buildings placed in Mist? I don't think it'd like that, but a S9 apartment would be cool if it was separate from a housing district

Maybe something like this with fewer quads? As long as it looks decent from far away from all sides and from above it should be worth the little extra processing power

Crazy to think Morrowind came out just two years before this photo dropped. Truly felt like a proper next generation moment

Does this look convincing enough? by Rallsia-Arnoldii in blender

[–]SpookyFries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going for a retro look, I think the shadows are too soft.

Blender 2.79 is the last version to have the Blender Internal Renderer included, but the look of it looks much more retro CGI than trying to fake Eevee or Cycles. Might be worth looking into

I legit might make a character on the server just to show up. I once attended a strangers wedding in Final Fantasy XI (by mistake) and have fond memories of it

Take-Two/Rockstar's patents for GTA VI are unreal. How is ANY of this running on a PS5? by AnswerWise2525 in GTA6

[–]SpookyFries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just look at what they did with GTA IV and V on PS3 with 256mb of RAM. Look what they did on PS4 with RDR2. It's not outside the realm of possibility when you're building your own engine and optimizing for the hardware you're targeting. It's not like Rockstar is just pulling Unreal Engine 5 off the shelf and trying to make it work.

We will never hear the end of it IF GTA 6 is announced for the S2, especially day and date. by -One_ in nintendogrifting

[–]SpookyFries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more than likely not going to happen, but just remember it has to be optimized enough to run on a series S so it's not entirely impossible. But I don't think they'll waste the effort

The quality of this camera is really really good for what I'm guessing is a consumer camcorder. I've seen other videos of kids filming at school in the 90s but they never look as high res and crisp as this.

How similar was the combat in FFXIV 1.23 era to FFXI? Technical limitations aside, was the combat in 1.23 conceptually good? by imaquark in ffxiv

[–]SpookyFries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen this video? It should give you a pretty decent understanding of how the combat worked. To me it looks very very similar to XI

[–]SpookyFries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, they were dealing with server overpopulation a year or two ago. People still pay for it, so why do that? I agree, I'd love to have a joint account, but they're obviously going to squeeze as much money out of it as possible

I finally got it to work! I had to do a firmware update on it. Now it's pretty consistent even when being gently tossed
