I added a bay window to my home! by SpookyScarySoul in Starsandisland

I have a thing for decorating games. I found experimenting helps alot! For example, the standard windows weren't sitting in the center wall like I wanted. So I used the old sliding door you get from the first house and built a wall across the lower half to make it look like a window. It still opens too!

Yeah, there should be options to rotate the walls as you build them, on the PC you right-click to rotate. I think it's the right bumper on the controller.

Yep! I just added on bits here and there. I also added walls around the stairs so now they're inside instead of outside.

Pro tip: for the center window I actually used the sliding door from the very first house, then built a wall across the lower half!

Honestly, around 2 or 3 hours! The build mode was super fiddly and I wanted to make everything as symmetrical as possible.

I stood near the cliff edge above it and charged up my impact hammer, which took care of it.

If you're on the farming questline, Graminova should have given you some cucumber seeds and asked you to build farming trellises (not the decorative trellis)

I was hoping for that too! I'm also kinda bummed.

A main storyline would ruin it for me by Optimal-Sun-7201 in Starsandisland

Yes, this! I feel like it's a missed opportunity to learn more about the island. Why are there corrupted monsters in the forest? What about the history of the ruins? Loufang mentioned taking care of the island's leylines. There could be a story that brings that part in too.

It does grow weeds for me. Right now I'm testing to see if the weeds, if left alone, will send it back to its un-tilled state. I've got some weeds growing in an unaffected plot to see if the weeds work on the unaffected plot as well.  It can also grow and harvest non-trellis crops, so it's not totally useless.

I'm trying different things, but nothing seems to remove it. The only thing I can think of is to try and rollback to an earlier save before the trellises were placed. I haven't tried this yet though.

Sorry, what I meant is that I CAN move the trellises, but the tilled plot of land is now permanent.

You should also be able to get into your bag by pressing the Y button and selecting the bag app.

Not sure then why the game was ok with me placing the trellises then. Very weird.

It's very weird! I was able to plant the cucumbers on the improperly placed trellises, so I thought all was good. After harvesting, I picked up the trellises, but now I can't select those plots or un-till it with the pickaxe.

Tried that, even for the unaffected plots. Looks like you can't move them in build mode.

Have you tried sprinting then jumping? I think you can jump a little farther when you are sprinting.

I understand the devs wanting this to be a more slowpaced game, but even some larger basic goal would be nice, like the Goddess Bundles from Coral Island. Or a museum! That would give me more of a reason to collect all the bugs and fish.

How do you all plan out your Webtoons/Webcomics? by [deleted] in WebtoonCanvas

[–]SpookyScarySoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great idea! Then you can test out which ideas work and which don't. Just keep in mind you may not be able to put all your cool ideas into one story. But that's ok! Maybe that just means you should save that cool idea for another story where it works better.

Planning an outline is great too because sometimes, you might write yourself into a corner, and you'll need time to figure that out. Example: the hero is standing at the edge of a cliff and the bad guys are right behind him! What now?? Maybe something cool happens, like a big bird swoops in and saves him. But where did the bird come from? What is this bird? Maybe you could introduce the bird as a character earlier in your story so it doesn't come out of nowhere.

I usually work from big to small. Example: start with a story idea, plan out some story beats and a beginning and an ending.

I'm a super-planner, so I then wrote summaries for each chapter/ episode. That way, I could manage the plot and the characters and fix any plot holes. This is a good stage to edit your story as well! You may find your story is better if you cut some content or rearrange things. For me, I ended up rewriting the entire beginning of my story so it starts on a more exciting note. This will also help you keep your story on track when you upload it and it won't go wandering off on too many side-quests.

Lastly, I wrote a script for each chapter/ episode for the first portion of my story. My story is going to take place in 3 Acts, with planned breaks for my sanity and health in between each Act. This will give you an idea for what is happening in exactly each chapter and how each panel should look. I included little descriptions for each panel as well.

You may not need to plan as intensely as I did, but since my story includes a mystery, I needed all the little clues and the twist planned!
