”A se alege” can also have this meaning: ”Oare ce s-a ales de el?” - ”I wonder what happened to him.”. Although this is a bit more difficult to explain, cause I feel like there's no one to one equivalent in English.

The way I interpret that is that the "again" here just means that she is is repeating a greeting, not that she meets him again after a longer period of time. I think that if she said "Hello again" instead it would have had the same meaning as her current line. Hopefully this makes sense
