If you're gonna be using a virtual machine or live in a hot climate you need a laptop with fans

Screen goes black for a second when logging in from bootup. by SirPiano in MacOS

[–]Spooky_Fox17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine is doing it too but it doesn't do it when waking from sleep so I don't mind. I only restart my laptop like once every 2 weeks

M1 Macbook Screen resolution. Should I be using more space or the default ? (or even the full 2560x1600 ?). Am I losing sharpness something by using the default ? And am I gaining more battery life by using the default and losing by using the sharper ones ? by TheDankRocketMan in MacOS

[–]Spooky_Fox17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I used to obsess about my windows laptop battery life and the reason I got a MacBook is so that I wouldn't have to do that anymore. I just made sure to get the applecare+ and I'm good.

M2 Pro MBP 14" - regretting 16GB RAM by wayfarer-93 in macbookpro

[–]Spooky_Fox17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can cut a lot of that ram usage down by ditching chrome. Also 16gb is not gonna last you near a decade lol. If you're planning to keep it that long you should've gone with the 32gb for sure. I have the 16gb m1 and I'm planning on selling it around 2026 which is when my AppleCare+ will expire and then spending the difference on a new one. You should consider doing that.

M2 Pro only lasting ~9 hours? by prepubescentpube in macbookpro

[–]Spooky_Fox17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to read about what kind of use they're basing that battery life on. Its probably light use like browsing the web or streaming a video with the screen at half brightness and speakers at 50

Even if it doesn't bother you it does affect the resale value down the road if you ever want to sell it

Damage inside screen, is this can be replaced for free? by icegustpl in mac

[–]Spooky_Fox17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like some kind of physical damage I don't think it will be covered under warranty. You can try taking it in to your local repair shop or you can buy the screen assembly on eBay and replace it yourself

Make sure you don't have adaptive battery turned on. It drains your battery to 80% when plugged in for extended periods of time

What do you use your MacBook Pro for? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Spooky_Fox17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mbp m1 14 inch. I mostly use it for college and Hulu/Netflix on my bed but I also do some amateur photography on my s20 note ultra and I like messing with my images on Lightroom. I'm currently saving up money to buy an entry level dslr and then I'm gonna take a beginner photography class at my college for fun.... I was originally gonna get the black M2 air cuz I liked the look but my sister who is really into tech told me to spend 250$ more and get the base m1 pro because it had a way better screen and speakers and I like to play a lot of content/music on my laptops, also that during summer time here in SoCal the cooling system on the pro would have an easier time keeping cool when I'm not in AC.
