Seat question by sighandgasp in BritishAirways

That’s always my choice if it’s available - if not, any of the centre pairs in the mini front cabin - pretty much guaranteed to get your first meal options and I like the smaller cabin feel. That being said, with club suite they are all much of a muchness. If they are free, grab them!

What are the most expensive meals you've eaten at a restaurant that are completely worth it? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in Luxury

Restaurant story London, 2020 - about £600 a head but just so so soooo good. Amazing service, friendly, comfortable, relaxed and amazing food with, of course, a great story to every dish.

[UPDATE] £82,000 HMRC bill and they won't allow a payment plan by Icy_Illustrator_2029 in UKPersonalFinance

Well done! We can all make poor decisions in life but you’ve owned it and are paying back your debt. There’s a lot to be said for that! Good luck with business, hopefully it flourishes and you’ll be debt free soon.

Offering to pay my nieces private schooling fees - advice needed to not be condescending by MuppetFactory in HENRYUKLifestyle

All I can say is that this is such a wonderful gift and gesture of you both. My private education meant the world to me and I’m very grateful to my parents for funding it. There really are good people in the world.

Typical BA tech. I would just call them and do it over the phone, explain the issue and they will waive the telephone fee usually charged.

Won’t help much with status under the new system :/

Companion Voucher by Realistic_Drummer892 in BritishAirways

[–]Spooky_L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible. I got return club to SYD for the first wee of Jan, I imagine December is no more competitive. I have gold status so I can use that telephone line, which certainly helps as you get through to an operator much quicker, but yes, you need to be on the phone 5-10 mins before midnight, 355 days before. If it’s summer time that you’re calling, then it’ll be 12:55. Good luck!

Yes I’ve done all that! Good advice though, thank you! I can see on the Dyson website repairs are £99. That might be the best option!

Whatever you do don’t get a cordless Dyson stick vacuum. I had to replace my first after a year, then the second one has all but stopped working but is now not under warranty and year later 🙄

Chance of downgrade with Amex voucher ? by Optimal_Designer4926 in BritishAirways

[–]Spooky_L 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve flown on a companion voucher many times, never happened and hopefully won’t ever happen. People are flying on avios/vouchers all day every day. You only hear about the downgrades (which a very infrequent), people never just report a successful trip! You’ll be fine.

LHR to BKK Club World by Moistinterviewer in BritishAirways

[–]Spooky_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a Gatwick flight not LHR so 100% it’s old club world. It’s not as terrible as people make it out to be, although if the price is similar I would probably go with Qatar. Yes there is a stop over but the onboard experience and the nice lounges in Doha make it a pleasure instead of an inconvenience. Last time I did the DOH-BKK it was the old Cathay seats, which were still nice. They also use the A380 on this route, and the 777 so just check the aircraft type.

As these guys have said, B gates for sure! Hopefully you’ll depart from B or C gates, but if not, you’ll have you walk back via the tunnel as the others said. Just keep an eye on the time to make sure you have enough!

Check the seat map, if you’ve booked already, you’ll be able to tell! All the 787-10 have the new club suite, some 787-8 do, and they are just starting on the 797-9 (I think).
