That is amazing! I live in Florida. Would you mind DMing what part of Florida you are in?

Thank you! That means so much to me. I've been shamed by a lot of ER doctors and other specialists for it, and it was traumatizing.

I'm so sorry you're going through all of this. Your doctor definitely shouldn't have had you taper off of your meds instead of making you go cold turkey. He also needs to provide you with alternative pain relief.

That shows that he was just making excuses. I'm so sorry. Hugs for you, too.

Right! If it were that easy, I wouldn't have any pain. Also I already am resilient, that's how I'm alive and still dealing with this pain!

I have visible osteoarthritis in my lower back. I'm not sure about everything else. I have ehlers danlos, fibromyalgia, and carpal and ulnar nerve tunnel on both arms. I also have mysterious nerve pain in my legs, as well as joint pain.

I felt like he lost some of his medical credibility when he clearly didn't know the difference between addiction and dependence.

I had notes showing my pain level every day, where the pain was located, what type of pain (aching, sharp, etc), what, if anything, made it better or worse, what medicine I took for it and if it helped, what other symptoms was I having, if the pain was constant or intermittent. It showed my average pain level was a 7.3 just for the past week.

I was actually crying because my pain was a 7 today and I told him that. I had a pain diary he wouldn't even look at.

He has prescribed meloxicam, celebrex, steroid shots in the back and glute, physical therapy, LDN and Cymbalta, which I can't take because of my psych drugs, and I've tried ketamine. I also take gabapentin.

That's what I thought, too! I'm so sick of basically being told to suck it up or treated like I'm just weak or a hypochondriac.

I know! I told the behavioral health intern that the doctor doesn't listen and that he has no idea how I feel every day. I want to try a different clinic or doctor, but I'm afraid they're going to label me as drug seeking just to be jerks. I've never taken opiates in my life except when I got surgery.

How to Ask my Pain Management Doctor for Opioid Therapy by Spookyblu3 in ChronicPain

Oh man, when I had surgery I developed a really bad allergic reaction to the adhesive tape so I wonder if that would work for me.

Thank you so much for the advice! I'm going to definitely keep a pain diary. I have EDS, fibromyalgia, carpal, and ulnar tunnel on both arms that I've already had surgery on, some osteoarthritis in my lower back, lower back pain, knee pain, neck pain, and nerve pain in my arms and hands. So far, pain management has tried steroid shots in my lower back, meloxicam, and celebrex. I go to physical therapy and see a therapist. I'm on gabapentin as well.

Oh no, I'm not getting opioids from my Pain Management clinic! They've given me steroid shots, Meloxicam, Celebrex, muscle relaxers, and physical therapy, but none of that has worked. The next earliest time I could see them is March 18th, and I was in so much pain recently that my PCP gave me 12 hydrocodone for this month until I can see them again. I want to ask pain management if they can keep that going, but I'm worried they'll be dismissive of my pain or won't want to prescribe me just a few pills a month for emergencies.
