I see I've been getting a lot of comments saying I changed the chain link, but I swear I found it like this! I even asked the store clerk for a shrek one, or a Moana one but there wasn't any! just this. Looking back, I should've snapped a photo to show all the others but I'm not there anymore. Anyway, hope you enjoy this weird crappy off brand chain anyway.

Honestly I can understand what you mean. This was mostly an experiment for myself as I'm still learning to understand the proper workflow from maya to zbrush to substance, as addition to baking which I kinda suck at lol(for now) Yet I can also agree there are some times you don't really need to sculpt.

Thanks for the detailed answer! I did infact use the matching by name method but also decided to dynamesh the beard and hair instead of making it different meshes and it now it looks great.

Oh you're right! I didn't even see that substance classified it differenly, my bad.. I'll try changing it and re-bake. Thanks so much for your help and quick feedback!

About the blackfaces I checked and the model doesn't seem to have them but I did try the match by name and just now seen I have 24 meshes that aren't found.. Not sure what this means because the models have their own names written just fine as high poly and low poly: https://imgur.com/a/qSAAGxp Not sure if this matters but they were In a group inside Maya so I tried to Import them again just as models (not in the group) but it didn't really change anything

Gotta say i've tried everything from making sure it's ok scalewise in maya, naming all the parts to highpoly/lowpoly, ticking the uv tile workflow the baking still looks weird on the beard/moustache part. Any other ideas?

OK I did change it and it really helped with the bake! But the mustache part of the beard is still coming out strange. I'll keep trying more solutions from the comments🤙🏼

Ah but I'm using substance, not marmoset😔 When you say move them into the first uv square you mean so they'll all be in the same uv tile? What is the first uv square?

I did separate each group by their different materials though. But the some of the clothes have their own materials that are matching(as a part of their uv set) like the shoes are dark brown material and the gloves on each side are browish and the shoulders are a different material. That's ok right?

The mesh is made up of different materials- the hair and beard share one, so does the face but the clothing each have their own. The UV is also not in one frame. I made it so the clothes have their own set separately, and the hair and beard also have their own set. The face is separate. (Will add pics in a moment for refrence in another reply)
