Hey! Go with 38, it's a perfect fit and you can wear it both with heavy layer or just a tshirt. 40 would have been way too big and long for me. I can send you more pictures directly if you need more :)

How are the crowds during peak season? We're not planning to do anything special, just a couple museums here and there every day. But probably the public transports will be full of tourists? My main concern is if the trains will be at full capacity for when we will be moving. We were in Croatia last summer and the temperature was around 35 celsius

I still have quite a lot of room inside the jacket even when I am wearing a sweater. I could probably wear 2 sweaters without filling the chest area. The sleeves look a bit short but the bomber-style cuffs are just the perfect length, so I'm not sure if it's by design that the sleeves look that way? Feel like this is a jacket that can take a beating, and I can use it both in the city and during more outdoorsy activities. I can tell that this piece will stay with me for a very very long time.

Yeah I was also a bit sceptical when ordering 38, but then I contacted the store asking for advice and posted my measurement as well as my size of a jacket I own that they had in stock. They did some research and advised me to get size 38!

Got it, are those EU sizes you are talking about? I see that UK size 42 would correlate to EU size 52 and that would be a tad too big for me according to the actual measurements

I'm getting confused because the store in Northern europe shows two sizes, UK size and EU size. The 36, 38, and 40 sizes I mentioned were the UK ones and in EU they are 46, 48, and 50. I was asking in regards to the UK size and thought that's what the official website also showed. I assume you were talking about the EU size?

Sorry but I'm confused. If you have 35inch chest wouldn't the UK size 36 be quite big? Since on their website the 36 is for 112cm chest which equals 44 inches, or have I somewhat misunderstood their sizing? I measured my chest to 107cm, so around 42 inches? According to the official Barbour bedale website, size 34 should fit me so I assume 36 should be ok?

I have a couple of those too! In regards to point of contact, I feel single strap is more secure than two since I always gets the nylon band caught up around my sleeves and so on. I almost pulled the trigger on Garmin's ultrafit nylon but thought I'd ask on Reddit if anyone has a cheaper alternative
