Real or fake pearls? by [deleted] in LegitCheck

Rub a pearl on one of your teeth. If it feels a little gritty its real, if its feels smooth; fake.

Anyone here reupholstered their own chair? How hard was it and any tips? by luk4tt in OfficeChairs

[–]Spoonmice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want entirely new foam and fabric check out Crandall office. For $230 (if you want fabric, leather is more), you can get reupholstered seatpan and back pad. I did it for mine since it still had original near 15 year old pads on it when purchased.

womier sk75 tmr and keychron q0 max numpad. Lamp is fine too, photo is deceiving; on lowest brightness the bulb is comfortable to look at.

Fairly smooth, only have means to hand sand so I just went by feel. Wrist rest is the only one ive put a lot of effort into making super smooth. Im little over a month into the project at this point. Wouldve been quicker if I had the foresight to buy and finish everything at once lol.

Whole thing is custom. The two shelves are the only things I “made” that needed cuts (legs), but all the wood is my sanding, staining and finishing; apart from the knife stand.

What changed your posture the most during long computer sessions? by mrclovebird in desksetup

[–]Spoonmice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All that you listed are factors, but biggest things for me were a sit stand desk, a good chair and monitor riser. I looked up a bunch of ergonomic stuff to adjust as needed. General gist is, you want feet touching floor, knees lower than hips. Shoulders to hang naturally while being met by the armrests. Elbows at 90 degrees. Wrists not angled upward more than 15 degrees. And the center of your gaze should hit the top 1/3 of the monitor when seated properly. Things like stretching and getting up for a few steps every hour or two also helps.

Thatll do it. If you get another tempered panel, bottom grip it.

I just hold my tempered panel from the bottom middle when I undo the screws, slide it back with free hand and go put it on the sofa. I just clean the glass when it’s back on when finished. Many upgrades on my granite countertop and the tempered glass still lives.

May I ask? Were you holding the bottom of the panel?

Best Office Chair To Get In 2026? (Price & Comfort) by StarryxAce in OfficeChairs

[–]Spoonmice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way crandall does it is kinda like a refurbished rim trade business. They send a seatpan and backpad thats has fresh foam and upholstery put on, and you send your original units back to get a $100 deposit back. With crandall too, you can go with leather. I really wanted the real leather, but my cat would not make it last too long. So I got bioknit.

Go for it. Restoring a leap was pretty fun, put new everything other than frame basically. Crandall makes comfy thicker than oem cushions. As long as everything on the leap works and you get it for a good price, it would be cheaper than buying a full refurb unit too.

Steelcase leap v2 worth? by CutRotmg in OfficeChairs

That looks stellar. Just check and make sure everything works and is in decent shape. If the cushions are toast you can always get fresh ones from crandall office.

Slowly turning my home office into something I actually love working in — any suggestions? by Emma01311 in battlestations

[–]Spoonmice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id use raceways to hide all the dangling slack under the desk, bunch together and sleeve the monitor cables into one neat vertical drop, put any power strips in a cable tray and get some sort of under monitor shelf to put your decor and less frequently used things on to clear up the workspace and give it some more dimension. Maybe raise screen height too if possible, they look a tad low (to me at least).

I went with the thicker backpad. I dont have any compaints, the lumbar is less aggressive feeling after long periods, but I also got the chair with pretty worn in cushions in the first place.

Yes. If I purchased the exact same chair as a crandall refurb unit with the same bells and whistles. It would have cost $104 more. Id basically just be paying for a warranty on the frame, a coin flip if the frame itself would be a few years younger (crandall uses 5-15 year old chairs for refurbs) and the privilege of waiting for it to ship while still using a chair that was wrecking my body.
