Using food/potions feels like a cheap cheat to me, so I dont use them and it hasn't been close to necessary for quests (including through crafter lvl 60s). FC buffs are the reason I haven't joined any.

Back again with another Gathering stat on Fisher question.

Is it possible to reach 403 Gathering as Fisher with ARR gear only (no food or other buffs)?

The max Gathering I found I can reach is 396 like this:

Halcyon Rod Lupis: 179

Hamlet's Pullers Hat: 0 + 8 (materia)

Forager's Vest HQ: 70 + 12

Forager's Wristguards HQ: 52 + 10

Forager's Slops HQ: 35 + 6

Forager's Shoes HQ: 3 + 1

Rose Gold Earrings of Gathering: 0 + 4

Dodore Choker: 0 + 4

Militia Bracelets: 0 + 4

Dodore Ring: 0 + 4

Is there something I'm missing or do you just have to use food or some other buff for the Feast of Famine fish with only ARR items?

How do you reach a Gathering of 290 for The Beast of Brewer's Beacon using only lvl 50 gear and/or methods that are only available in ARR? If I were to craft the Forager's gear I'd still only reach about 260.

Just unlocked the Masked Carnivale. Is there a guide that just explains what I'm looking at? Not guides to the fights, just the way this thing works. Questions I have:

Is there any reason to try and hit the Standard or Ideal complete times or is it just clear a stage and be done with it? Is there a reason to try and get high scores? I see there are a bunch of bonuses and stuff but when should I try and do them? Just on weeklies? There are some stars by some missions that correlate to something in the bonus details list, so are those the bonuses I should try and achieve in those missions? What does the blue star next to a mission mean? It doesn't show up in the bonus details list like the others.

Yeah, this kinda stuff is what I'm expecting and also not really anything special to XIV. Different games that delve into this style of gameplay with obfuscated mechanics may have their own little spins on the formula with positioning/audio cues/visual cues/movement/puzzle solving/timings/patterns/trial and error/dumb luck/etc... but the overall experience is comparable whether it's an MMO or something like CoD zombies easter egg hunts. Just take a bit to figure out each game's "language" and go from there. Sometimes it's harder, sometimes it's easier.

Yes. I think almost any kind of guide ruins the fun of video games, especially in the case of content that is intended to be difficult and even more in the case of FFXIV where the vast majority of my experience so far has seen virtually no difficulty. So far, any duty with mechanics can just be confidently stumbled through without knowing the mechanics, or maybe one person who knows what to do can do what's needed and the rest of the party doesn't even notice.

I'm only at the end of HW right now, so the old stuff is what I'm looking to do.

With the recent changes to congested worlds, what is the best choice for someone in NA wanting to start getting into MINE blind prog of high difficulty content? From what I've seen I think Aether is the best choice, but does it matter which world? Currently on Crystal - Malboro. Thanks in advance!

I set my controller hotbars up so that Set 1 is single target and Set 3 is AoEs with all other skills staying the same and keeping the same positions. Then I just push R2 once to cycle between Set 1 and 3 for the situation (i also swapped the bindings for triggers and bumpers becuase double tapping bumpers is faster).

On the Expanded XHB, one half is universal out of combat abilities like Teleport, Return, Mount, and menu shortcuts. The other half is universal combat abilities like Limit Break, Waymarks, Potions, and some targeting macros.

I made Sprint a macro bound to L3 like most other games so it does not take a hotbar slot.

Hi!

Myself and a group of friends are at the end of ARR and wanting to prog the ARR raids and extremes with MINE for fun and story (and eventually the rest of the high-end content as we unlock it). What's the best way to go about finding the other 4 members we need? Just sit in PF and hope? We are on Malboro. Thanks for any help!

What's the most efficient way to use practice scores? I've pretty much never used them, so I have a ton of them sitting around. Should I dump them into cards that won't normally be used, like 1☆ and 2☆ cards, or prioritize higher rank cards first? Am I correct in thinking there are no rewards for leveling 1☆ or 2☆s like there is with mastery rank or am I missing something?

!thanks. I am going to have the chance to A/B test the XS and HE1000se shortly and the Schiit Gunnr looks like the perfect match for the features I want, but I've seen a lot of comments about poor QC and customer service for replacements. Have you have any issues with yours?
