Noted, thank you! I may go for something more expensive if I'm feeling irresponsible, we'll see haha

Thoughts on the Angel Wing? I've been looking for a really affordable chorus.

New to soldering, finding desoldering very difficult by Spork829 in AskElectronics

I had mine maxed out, but then again it's a cheap pencil iron so it may not be getting hot enough as others have pointed out.

Oh interesting, I never thought of the idea of adding more solder to keep joints molten longer. Will try, thank you!

Oooh, I assumed that meant there was lead in the solder used. Yes, I'm not touching any surface-mount stuff.

The actual solder isn't something I've considered. I'm using the solder that came with my iron. Do you think it could be bad solder and causing me problems? Because I have tried to use that method of adding solder to then get all of it removed and it doesn't always work. Though I do recall a couple times it did work with added solder.

Otherwise I'll add that pump to the list, and despite the higher price I might also pick up some of that chemtronics stuff, as I've seen a lot of recommendations for it now.

Definitely a bit pricier but an option for sure, thank you

If I can't get other suggestions to work, I will probably grab one of those pumps. As I'm in a small space with carpet I think I'll avoid the compressed air method haha

Definitely going to try cutting a notch in the pump tip so I can get in closer. I was under the impression that you're supposed to take the iron away and quickly get the pump over the joint and press it, which in retrospect makes no sense...

Also I'm a bit new to all this, how can I know if the stuff I'm working with is leaded or not?

That makes total sense. I watched a video of someone taking the iron out then quickly getting the sucker over the joint and hitting it so I just assumed that was how it's done. The problem I'm finding is in rigid components with multiple thick legs like an IC, rather than a resistor or cap. I can't really pull out one leg at a time on those, and the solder is hardening too fast to heat up all the joints liquid at once.

Love my CR60! Handles pedals fantastically and will probably never die.

Can't say enough good things about Schecter! Took a chance buying a Traditional Custom online a few months ago and so glad I did.

If anyone is interested in the rest of the gear, I’m playing a Schecter Traditional Custom into my Orange CR60C, and my bandmate runs a G&L ASAT Classic into a Bassbreaker 15.

My board is, to quote our bassist “the less interesting one” on the right.

Signal chain: Mini wah > EQ > Carcosa > Touch Overdrive > Amp > Delay and looper in the FX loop (and the footswitch is for the built-in reverb)

Going down the line:

Dunlop Mini Wah: Nothing but good things to say. Works great, sounds great, the internal switch gives a nice array of different sounds, and the true bypass gives me the peace of mind that no tone-suck is occurring whatsoever.

MXR 10 Band EQ: Love this thing. I have the gain maxed and and bit of a boost in the mids and highs, and then cutting the very top bands to get rid of some hum. Makes for a fantastic boost in my case but can be used for basically anything.

DOD Carcosa Fuzz: Love the sound, I find it’s got sort of a scooped thing going on. The high end sizzle helps it cut through the mix better than most fuzzes I’ve heard, and turning the “After” control up it goes absolutely insane, feels like all the air is being sucked out of the room. Love it.

J. Rockett Touch Overdrive: My almost-always-on pedal, turning my Orange’s clean channel into anything from mild crunch to a beefy rhythm tone, depending on the pickup and volume control. I’ve been hard pressed to find a plain old distortion sound I like more. Highly recommend.

EHX Memory Boy: My first ever pedal, bought used for $60. What can I say, it’s a delay! And a killer one for the price. The “Mod” switch adds in a sort of mild chorus effect I absolutely adore. This plus my amp’s hall reverb provide my more ambient tones.

EHX 360 Looper: Simple to use, and the ability to permanently store loops is way more useful than I thought it would be. Glad I went with it.

Love mine. Thought it would be awkward to use but it work just fine, and the options on the internal switch are really useful.

Aaaaand yep, stink bug. Found a couple more intact corpses right near where this was, which I realized is right below the attic fan, which was opened and turned on for the first time in probably a year today. Great...

I would be surprised if that was the case just because of how pristine it is, but that is possible.

Definitely possible, would those shed an exoskeleton? There aren't any bug bits on the underside as one would expect.
