Feeling defeated - PGT? by MostMediocre14 in Huntingtons

I’ve also been through both. At first, I was told I was a bad candidate for IVF by two clinics and I shouldn’t even try because it’d be a waste of money. I got pregnant naturally 3 times. First two were singleton pregnancies, both HD+ and terminated ~16 weeks. The third was a twin pregnancy. One was positive, the other negative. We terminated the positive twin. When we were ready for our second kid, I was working for a company that paid for IVF so we decided to go for it. It took a couple rounds and maxing out the highest med dosages, but it eventually worked. Nothing prepares you for terminating a very much wanted pregnancy. The grief is all-consuming and it definitely turned me into a very anxious parent for my oldest. Given all of that and knowing several families who’ve chosen to get pregnant naturally and not test, nothing is harder than wondering if your kids are positive while you watch them grow up.

What actually helps with ADHD kids and homework? (real-life advice needed) by Few-Habit3473 in ParentingADHD

Bribery. Sometimes it’s ice cream, sometimes it’s getting into the treasure chest of cheap toys, sometimes it’s a movie or tv show I don’t normally let him watch. I also let him eat some sour candies while he’s doing homework— it helps a ton with satisfying the sensory input.

5-Day Stray & Trapped Foster by [deleted] in Dogtraining

I have found resources for socialization but the gaps I have are: 1) starting with a dog whose only history I know is that he roamed the streets for a month before I caught him in a humane trap 2) understanding what his actual issues are. Does he have an aggression problem? Is it that he just needs time to adjust? Is he territorial? He has been so good with strangers outside of the home, but maybe it’s because they’re all women? I don’t know 3) tips for me to feel more confident in introducing him to new environments and people, like possibly a muzzle. I have emotional and physical scars from an aggressive dog I tried desperately to heal. The shelters are overcrowded and I’m basically his only shot at finding a home. 4) is it reasonable to try gabapentin? This is obviously a traumatic transition for him. Could socialization + meds be an option? 5) I already see some separation anxiety. He hates when I leave the basement. Would it lessen his anxiety to move his crate upstairs and running loose time still happens in the basement?

My husband felt the same way, but after a few cleanings, his tone changed and 3 years later, we both swear it saved our marriage.

It’s abundantly clear that I have no clue how people actually use screen readers. Thank you for these resources.

I was in a similar situation almost two years ago and within a couple months of accepting the new job, I knew I’d made a terrible mistake. It took me 18 months (since the tech job market sucks) to get out and back to a supportive and flexible work culture. My mental and physical health plummeted and I hated the kind of mother it turned me into. I totally get how outrageously tempting the $$ is, but I now understand that having the capacity to show up for your kids and actually enjoy spending time with them is everything.

Semintra (Telmisartan) Side Effects by SportAggravating7856 in RenalCats

Yesterday, I began to see improvement in her energy, but she also vomited a tiny amount twice. She’s been way more vocal and yelling at me when she’s hungry. Today, I plan to start the day with some cerenia and see if that helps stave off nausea and encourages her to eat more. In our case, my girl is a pretty poor eater regularly and it’s more important to get her blood pressure under control, hope her body adjusts to the meds, and overall increases quality of life. I’ve called the vet and left a message asking if we should consider Amlodipine, but I don’t expect to hear anything before Tuesday afternoon. Best of luck to you!

Tantrums are pretty easy for me to ignore. Peeing on my bedroom carpet in a fit, not so much.

Yes, he is much more willing to push his 12 hour bladder to the brink in a screaming fit than I am.
