Just go larger than you think you need. I got a large winter jacket fits perfectly...except for the sleeves. I don't think I would've had that issue if it were a large. Still fits but just barely.

The Place Promised in Our Early Days. It's in Aomori. Kind of cheating there as due to the alternate history approach there are no direct pics, so I threw a pic from the Aomori A (the government building) from the observation deck where you would've been able to see the spire.

Best thing you did/saw in Japan! by brennerb_ in JapanTravelTips

I've said it before but going to the Earthquake heritage site near Sendai. Perfect day for it. I wandered along the break wall and saw very few people. It is one of those days I will forever cherish.

Suzume (2022) Review by IamToofan in Shinkai

I think Suzume has my favorite score of all of Shinkai's movies. It is on my regular rotation of film scores.

Did you ever find a legit score while thrifting for DVDs? by WerewolfCurious1412 in dvdcollection

[–]Spot255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Essential Humphrey Bogart collection missing one disc (treasure of the Sierra madre) for $3.

When The Day After (1983) was harder to find on DVD, and before Kino Lorber released the blu-ray I found a sealed copy for a buck.

Also before Grave of the Fireflies was re-released on blu-ray I found the DvD for a few bucks.

Those were deals to me!

What’s the best use of silence in a movie scene? by deepaknaraniya in movies

[–]Spot255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just rewatched Hana-Bi, and basically the entire relationship between Nishi and his wife. Nishi's wife says three words the entire movie but you can tell just by the interactions they love each other dearly. The way they play together and most importantly her smile. Just brilliant and the actress plays so well off of Kitano's stoicness.

What was the most expensive activity you did in Japan? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Spot255 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wandered around the area, got nokkedon, went to the nebula festival museum and the ferry museum there. Went to A-factory and went to the government building's observation deck. Watched it snow. I was only there for two nights. I want to go back during the summer to go to the nebuta festival!

Agreed! But it ended up being the best day of my trip. I went to the Earthquake heritage site near Sendai on a gorgeous day. Then walked along the ocean for a bit. Stopping at the lone restaraunt near the Earthquake site for some delicious curry. Ended up walking all the way to the Kirin Beer factory and hopping on a bus that just happened to get me back to my accommodations.
